Totally Not A Book Nerd

Oh my god oh my god I have literally the best friends and followers in the existence of EVERYTHING.

Thank you so much to @slytherin-bookworm-guy and @izzytheheartbrekker for organising the Super Secret Thing,and thank you to every person who has left a message in it; @vastfandoms, @books-and-cookies, @coffeebooksorme, @audreys-book-nook, @nerds-and-nebulae, @robinbibliophile (the best fanart I’ve ever received!) @totallynotabooknerd, @readaroundtherosie, and every one else whose Tumblr URLs have escaped my mind right now - every message from you all was so lovely and I don’t know whether to smile or cry because it seriously means so much to me that you all care and BELIEVE in me even when I don’t. Thank you so so so so much. I honestly love you all.

Story time;

Last year at YALC I dressed as Malfoy from AVPM. I was dared by a few people (*glares*) to quote Starkid to the first person dressed as Potter we saw.

So we spent the afternoon looking. And finally, we found one. So I went up and ran around this person doing the ‘moonshoes Potter’ part. (There is a short video somewhere)…

Little did I know Potter was actually the (adorable) author Non Pratt, who I basically terrified as she has never seen AVPM.

FAST FORWARD A YEAR.

I go and get my book signed from her and she pauses, looks at me and goes ‘I know your face have I signed for you before?’

I kinda just went ’…no… But I did make a fool out of myself in front of you once’

To which came this response: 'YOU’RE THE DANCING POTTER GIRL. That’s why I know you, your face is burnt into my brain forever!’ and a signed book dedicated to 'Evil Imogen’

Moral of the story; if someone tells you an authors probably forgotten you, it’s a lie.

I love this.

He's at YALC this year! There was barely any queue for his table, so I got to have a nice chat with him. I mentioned that I learnt Irish at uni then embarrassed myself by not remembering any of it. Redeemed myself by mentioning that I was the one who nominated him for the award though!

Do. When you finish just queue up behind the back door Both times I’ve gone eights actors have come out. So i have my book and tickets signed.

Nice one! I’m hoping our seats are okay in July, we got the second cheapest. My friends went this week and got a backstage tour and met Hermione and Ron. Jealous.

HOW DID THEY GET A BACKSTAGE TOUR

They met someone at a work do who knows the stage manager. They had to promise not to post photos on social media. My work doesn't give me connections like that...

The problem with falling asleep to an audiobook is having no clue where to pick up the next day

do you use audible? they have a sleep timer! you can set it to 15 min, 30 min, 45 min, 60 min, or the end of the current chapter, and it super helps me figure out what i last remember hearing. (if you already knew this i’m sorry)

I do! But sometimes I fall asleep before the sleep timer times out! I have the same problem with physical books when I'm really tired and haven't been concentrating enough on what I'm reading.

I still haven’t booked mine yet! Do we know who’s going to be there yet? We need to know who to embarrass ourselves in front of this time around.

No- their twitter says they should be announcing soon, they just have to finalise some people.

I need them to announce so I know if I’m dressing up all three days or just the one…

I swear they've been saying that since the end of 2016... Hopefully that means some big names though.

Same. Although we may be moving house over the next few months so I'm not sure how possible costumes will be. Might just have to wear nerdy tshirts.
