I HAD TO DO THE SILLY FUNNY MEME
got commissioned to draw em together teehee
Love the crossover, but man, Krupp must NOT give a s*** because I don't think smoking is allowed at ANY elementary schools.
a very quick doodle while i work on commissions bcs the fact two faves from my two top hyperfixations share a voice actor is super cool to me <3
I watched the Lorax last night and this was all I could think about
A lot of people talk about how ‘Biggering’ should have been in the film version of The Lorax and how it would have greatly improved The Once-ler, as well as analyze it.
But I find it odd that I haven’t seen anyone talk about the second part of the song where the Lorax takes over and talks to The Once-ler. There’s not much to analyze if he’s spelling out what Once-ler is going through on first glance, but it adds to the Lorax himself.
Because instead of saying his usual ‘I speak for the trees, so please stop’ lines, he’s trying to make the Once-ler aware of what kind of path he’s going through for himself if he continues–he will NEVER be satisfied if he wants more, and his lack of awareness is due to pride. In this version of the film:
1. The Lorax has been around for MANY years to the point that at the end of the film he is still alive and hasn’t aged a day.
2. In this version of the story, the Lorax and the Once-ler were at a point where they almost became good friends before the first Thneed became in demand.
So the song would have shown:
1. The Lorax has been around long enough to have an understanding of human nature and what happens when certain flaws lead to their downfall. He is able to see the signs in the Once-ler and knows what is happening and will happen.
2. The Lorax is noticeably rude and P.O.ed, but you could argue that he’s trying to reach out and warn the Once-ler since he knows Once-ler was once far more well meaning and kinder before he broke his promise.
Then the music slows down as if the Once-ler is considering The Lorax’s words.... but then the epic third part of the song happens. And it’s pretty clear that Once-ler is choosing to do more than ignore the Lorax.
I would have loved to have heard Danny DeVito and Ed Helms do this song. Especially Ed Helms because I think he could have pulled this song off, not to mention he can pull off being genuinely scary if the role calls for it).
I'm going to ruin my and all your days by reminding you that Captain Underpants has the same voice as the Onceler
I tried to rewatch the lorax and I fucking couldn't do it I didn't even make it to the onceler I couldn't get past the opening SONG
so
I'll take your word for it
Also tho
not to draw a comparison between Onecest and Kruppants but...
I'M GOING TO MAKE IT WORSE
In the Spanish-Latin dub they ALSO SHARED THE SAME VOICE ACTOR ((Arturo Mercado Jr.)) B))))
Remembering when I saw the cast list for the CU movie, remembered what happened the last time Ed Helms voiced a character from a kids book, and found the whole thing amusing while wondering how he was going to voice CU and Krupp.
Also when there was going to be a CU movie in the 90s, it would have starred Chris Farley who was in the middle of recording for Shrek when he died. So if Farley had lived, CU would have shared a voice with Shrek instead.
AND it was going to be live action of all things. As someone who has seen the infamous Saturday Night Live’s ‘Chip n Dales audition’... well, I don’t know if it would have worked or not. But other than that, Farley could have pulled it off.
Revisting the Dr. Seuss Labyrinth AU (and a certain cameo or two passing by for a moment).
“Plant trees not war.”
“That doesn’t make a lick of sense.”
Like it or not, there’s been a small revival for the Lorax 2012 (mainly thanks to discovering the cut song ‘Biggering’ and the lost potential that came with it). It made me revisit the ‘Once-ler is Ted’s grandfather’ theory and the NormaxOnceler ship, but the more I check it out, the more I WISH that had been canon because it would of worked and answered WHY Ted’s grandmother knew about the Once-ler.
Also, the pure brilliance behind that ship and what we have to consider about the film. Suppose Norma HAD been the Once-ler’s girlfriend or fiancee in the past, but obviously they didn’t stay together, yet Norma still had a daughter. A lot of fan art and a fan fic or two involving the ship almost ALWAYS has her leave him during his period of greed and running the business.
If that theory is true or was made canon, imagine the sheer irony of it: for all the Biggering Once-ler was obsessed with, he would have failed to focus on the biggering of having an ACTUAL loving family.
Honestly, in a better world, if I was working on the film, I would have made that theory canon and kept in ‘Biggering’ among things (while making sure my sponsors/promoters DOESN’T involve a car making company.)
...Also, I’m super bitter that I was denied a far better awesome villain song that could have been sung by Ed Helms.
Attempt number 2 at a human version of the Grinch. Plus revisiting the Labyrinth AU @rigamaroo and I made up (and remembering the peach scene).
its only a matter of time
@rigamaroo and I discussed this as an AU and I had to doodle some stuff for it. The weird thing is.. it kind of works. Can you guess who is who?
(I also think of this AU as ‘How Cindy Lou Who gained a potential step dad AND four honorary uncles.’)
