daydreaming until my brain hurts

I am a female artist and an aspiring writer. I love video games (like the Legend of Zelda), anime, musical theater, etc. Sometimes I can focus too much on certain things.

Remember that Labyrinth AU for the Grinch that we toyed with last year and we struggled with picking someone for Sir Didymus and Ambrosius? What if, since we are both watching GEAH it was Sam and Guy? (Bonus points for Guy being sort of dog creature).

That… WOULD BE PERFECT! Sam is loud, chaotically good and very agile (as seen from his escapades through the series) fitting Sir Didymus’ role like a glove, while Guy on the other hand is more cautious and willing to nope the heck out of a situation if it gets to hairy. And I can def see Sam repeatedly climbing up on Guys shoulders to scout out the area, then urging him on like a stead into battle when an enemy is present.

Lots of well to-do arguments would follow, like, “you’ve got to be out of your flamfloosal mind if you think I’m taking on all of those monstrosities!”

“No no no, YOU’RE not taking them on. That’s just silly. WE’RE taking them on, together.”

Cindy Lou is also pretty close to EB regarding their personalities, so it wouldn’t take long before the two started to warm up to her and see the unfairness of her plight.

Now that I think about it, I kind of feel bad for the Grinch if he has to take on those two as well. I mean, what with Sam being able to out manuver what ever he throws at him and Guys ability to reconstruct his inventions (only for them to explode later) he might as well forfeit and let Cindy Lou win.

Given that we got the Lorax as Hoggle and Horton as Ludo, it might be an easy win for Cindy Lou… if they can get their stuff sorted together and get along.

And Sam constantly trying to ride on Guy’s shoulders would be hilarious, given that he’d do it anyway because he’s also short. And Guy just being fed up constantly about everything. Oh god I need to draw that out at some point or rematch the Labyrinth with those two in those roles in mind.

They certainly would care for her and it would be cute (well, actually all of them would, though it’d take awhile for the Lorax to warm up to her since he’d have a reason to be uneasy around anyone who looks like part of a race that might not respect nature so much).

And if the duo doesn’t wear out the Grinch through those means, then you know it might be thanks to Sam I Am doing what he’s most famous for by chasing him down to get him to eat… well… you know.

Pffffft! I mean, can you imagine the Grinch wrinkling his nose at the green eggs and ham and just lookin between it and the group all, “that’s disgusting.”

And Guy’s back there going, “THANK YOU!” Since I’ll assume he hasn’t tried them yet either and they are of the same opinion.

The Lorax probably would take the longest to care for Cindy Lou, probably because when they first meet she stepped on a baby truffula tree and he has yet to forgive her for that transgression. Though I’m not sure if he’d intentionally betray her like Hogsnot or if happenstance just kind of put her in harms way and he wasn’t quick enough to prevent it. Or maybe, if he did betray her, it’d most likely have to do with the Grinch promising to restore his truffula forest if he did so. (Ack! And now I’m thinking about the scene when Hoggle runs off out of guilt, saying he betrayed his one and only friend!)

I’ll admit, it’s been a year and I can’t remember if the Grinch kidnapped Cindy’s brothers or her mom, so the things that are going on in the castle/mountain would be different depending on that. If it’s her brothers, maybe he thinks he can put them to work to help him build things but starts to develop a soft spot for the tykes when their antics remind him of himself. If it’s the mom… we’ll… that would be a different scenario entirely. Much more blushing and stumbling over words.

It’d be funnier if Guy hasn’t tried them yet and then he’s got something in common with the Grinch. (Especially considering how they use the dish as symbolism for Guy and Sam’s developing friendship... which I won’t go into detail to avoid the spoilers... so of course he’s not entirely ‘buddy-buddy’ with Sam right now). If dogs aren’t allergic to eggs or ham, maybe Max might like them.

Yeah that Truffula thing seems accurate, but it would of been an accident on her part. And the promise of restoring the forest is interesting because it implies that the events of the Thneed company HAS happened in the AU. (It sounds like you aren’t overly fond of Hoggle? Or are you fond of him? To be honest I’m not overly fond of him, even if he did redeem himself).

Oh, now I want to know the circumstances as to how Cindy meets Guy and Sam. We already know how she meets Lorax. And considering that Horton was bullied and nearly locked up in his story, those circumstances are easily guessable. Oh wait... Bog of Eternal stench is almost like that junkyard with the purple stuff from the ‘Dark’ episode.... hmm.

I think originally we agreed on her brothers if Cindy is the one to save her family (we had a variation where it was Donna instead). I suppose you could get the two to either met at the end or have her kidnapped with her sons too.

Look I'm up for more lgbtqi+ romance rep, but I also feel while we always see het romance we don't get enough of that really healthy ones, and Guy Am-I's and Michellee's progression as a two people falling in love in Green Eggs and Ham was just???? Really lovely?????

That they bonded together over this quiet shared moment on the train, and helping each other, and they just hit it off together and opened up to each other

And they keep finding each other and Guy respects her and cares about her, and she does the same to him

Just??? Their development felt so natural and so nice, and Michellee got rightfully angry at him when it seems like he's tricking her or playing her even when he's trying to be honest with her, and he's understanding of that and doesn't want to cause trouble for her and doesn't want to push when it's clear that she wants nothing to do with him

Like, it's just a breath of fresh air to see two adults talking out about their feelings and fears and working through all that together and being open and vulnerable to each other

(Which is also another thing that I adore about the show. They hit the right emotional beats and it's just sooooooo good and damnit I love it so much)

And I understand that people would tend to gravitate towards getting Guy with Sam, but??? You don't have to drag Michellee down!! She's great!!

Her development as a character was so good to see! She's a widow trying to do her best to provide and protect her only child and she had the best intentions but it was stifling E.B.

And she realized that learned to be better, to trust E.B. more and pull back from her protectiveness.

And seeing where she started to where she ended up becoming at the end, is soooo wonderful, especially with opening up about being an artist to her daughter, because parents are people who are trying to do what they can to support their family. That there's just a person there, trying to do her best to do right by her kid.

In any case, both Sam and Michellee are important to Guy because he loves them and cares about them and their happiness and safety so much!!

And no matter what, they're a big family together!!!
