What I figure happened is this: Nick and Monroe wake up in a forest with little to no memory of how they got there. Monroe carries a female fox named Rosalee. They are found by the Woodsmen, who Nick recognizes as Captain Sean Renard; but Renard doesn’t seem to have any memory of Nick. He is consumed with keeping the lantern lit, believing that it contains his own soul, and that if it goes out, not only will he die but the world around him, his “Empire” would grumble into ruin. They soon meet the bluebird, Juliette, who tries her best to help the two; telling them of a witch known as Adalind Schade who might be able to help them regain their memories. All the people they meet along the way are Wesen or people Nick new in his life before. He is told that his role is the Grimm (Instead of the Pilgrim) and that there is a Wesen that needs killing. A Wesen simply known as The Beast.
