Thank you so much for your kind words, anon! It’s always a pleasure to try and help you guys out if you want a guide or some tips. I decided to do both here!
Sorry the first part is a bit wordy but it’s the only way I can really think of explaining. Second part is how I use the actual animals (and the animatronics!) to influence the style! Some tips:
- I’ve always followed the nose as the main anchor of the drawing because if the nose is out of place then the whole drawing can easily fall apart. People might find this helpful or find a different anchor, but all the same - stick to the same starting point!
- Use a new layer for every new line! This one is vital to how I draw - I will keep drawing a line over and over until it looks right before I then merge it down with the rest of the drawing. If you keep drawing on the same layer and then draw something perfectly but can’t move it just a little more to the left then that becomes frustrating quickly.
- PERSIST! No one starts perfect with art! You’ll always have that time where you hate everything you draw and wish you could draw like someone else. Be confident in your own work and don’t give up, because when you look back in a few months time you’ll notice all those differences thanks to you PERSISTING! Trust me, it’s a good feeling.
- Stay hydrated and take breaks!
Your art is always going to be changing, and thats a good thing. Don’t be scared to imitate pre-existing art to get yourself started (just be respectful and don’t trace other artists work - you won’t learn that way!) because there’s a chance that eventually that art will bleed into your own style.
PS: No Chica in this guide because Chica is a gamble everytime I draw her. Her beak is so infuriating sometimes.

Still losing my mind over the Animal Crossing series having a Turnip seller, Bug Catching enthusiast and whoever the hell this Beaver was who used to look like this
But now for New Horizons they look like this
Complete bimbo/babyfication
it's their grandkids, are they not allowed to retire??
Absolutely not
It's granddaughter and sons, and CJ even drags his dad saying he doesn't actually know how to fish just eat them.
The new characters are a treat. Daisymae will send you bamboo shoots if you buy turnips often enough, Flick will basically pay off your house with his love of bugs, and CJ will talk about his boyfriend and buy fish, as well as hold the fishing tourneys in a much better way than old games.
Tom, Timmy and Tommy haven't aged because they're tanuki which are often considered yokai.
Blathers and the Able sisters got in with Nook early so he shares his power with them.
Kicks started as a young skunk so he can slowly age with the series.
Gulliver is essentially a sailor's ghost stuck to sail the seas.
yeah that all tracks
