That is an interesting article
There's a post telling people to watch/read V for Vendetta, and I wanted to recommend it too! But the op basically spoils plot too much for my taste, so I didn't want to reblog it
So, for those who don't know, it is a story set in dystopian fascist England that revolves around the mysterious man fighting against the regime and an unfortunate teenage girl he helped out of situation (nothing romantic between them). I never read old comics before it, but it really pulled me in. It is smart, and the characters are rather complex. Watching the plot unfold left me glued to the pages and crying
The story is really unique, I've never read anything like this despite the dystopia genre being quite popular now. The stpry has such deep respect of freedom... The imagery is unforgettable
I liked this webtoon very much. Mi-ae gives me big adhd vibes. And I love the slow romance between her and the cold angry Cheol 😆 I also like the way it is set in the past, more retro times
If anyone knows something similar, you can recommend

1. favourite place in your country?
I want to visit Gurzuf again... I was in that town once but it is so unique and the sea is cold and clean. Probably the only place I "miss". I actually don't get attached to places a lot
5. favourite song in your native language?
No fave song so I'll recommend you things I listened to this year (links are spotify). This album by Структура Щастя, this and this song by хейтспіч, Не відчуваю зими and Калуські вечорниці
I would also like for you to check out Dakh Daughters but I recommend watching videos. Their performance is something else. Rozy/Donbas, Inshe misto, Papirosy (Links are youtube)
Also, my playlist with Ukrainian songs on Spotify but it's a mix of every genre in existence
9. which of your neighbouring countries would you like to visit most/know best?
Tbh I don't take interest in none... Maybe Slovakia
11. favourite native writer/poet?
I don't read that much literature (sadly). Tyutyunnyk and Stus are stuck in my mind though... One day I'll read more classic Ukrainian literature 🥲
13. does your country (or family) have any specific superstitions or traditions that might seem strange to outsiders?
Giving out candy or chocolate at funerals? Kissing bread if it falls on the floor? I don't feel like our traditions are strange or very out there... At least not the ones that are kept to nowadays
With superstitions, it's also nothing strange. Black cat stuff. If a person carries empty buckets they shouldn't cross your path or you will experience unhappiness. The opposite happens if the buckets are full. You shouldn't whistle in the house (or you won't have money). You can't give things over the doorstep (you have to be in the same room). Spilling the salt means an argument will occur soon. Unmarried people shouldn't sit at the corner of the table because they won't get married
You can't sew or knit on Sundays is something that our family does but it's more religious
16. which stereotype about your country you hate the most and which one you somewhat agree with?
The stereotype about Ukrainian women being the prettiest is my most hated one because it is closely tied to fetishization. The one I agree with is that we are more confrontational than our neighbors and might come as aggressive to them. We often fight with each other (but we can be very united when needed)
20. which sport is The Sport in your country?
Football (soccer). We love boxing too
29. does your region/city have a beef with another place in your country?
Holy Halychyna is a very special place that is deeply loved for its uniqueness and culture but also hated for being stuck up holier than thou the correct kind of Ukrainian place
I can tell you that back in the days, in Hetalia fandom Western oblast' were shipped with Eastern ones and it had some rivalry vibes
Найкраща пісня Go_A - Церковка, і її навіть нема в якомусь офіційному записі.
Timothy Snyder's "On Tyranny" is pretty good and short. You should read it, especially if you are American (you are the target audience) but it's good for everyone
The other book that I would recommend on the subject is Erich Fromm's Escape from Freedom but it's a bit outdated in some regards (dude believed in planned economy)
Very upsetting that not enough people know of this band

Dedicated to Miss I
Today I keep smoking and smoking cigarettes
One after another I keep smoking cigarettes
I keep smoking and smoking and smoking cigarettes
Today I am upset
Today I am upset, today I am deadly deadly upset
Because I love her hair (hair)
I love her hair (hair)

I like very much to listen to Shopen in a white hall
I have G flat ballad mood
And heart is laughing playing with another heart
And in intermission timid conversations
Themes are exquisite, close and distant
But the heart will catch it, catch half-word
And beneath the chandelier two souls-storks are echoing
Coo, coo, coo (a lot of cooing)
Today I keep smoking and smoking cigarettes
One after another I keep smoking cigarettes
I keep smoking and smoking and smoking cigarettes
Today I am upset
Today I am upset, today I am deadly deadly upset
Because I love her
(Hair)
I love her hair (hair)
I love her hair (hair)
I love her hair (hair)
I love her
Five happy trams have passed by
You're nowhere to be seen.
Ah, it's so cold to wait on the street corner in May,
When there's silent wasteland in your heart.
Miss got off, completely different from you
Surrounded by lilies of the valley
And for a long-long time I followed with my eyes
The sparkly heel.
Today I keep smoking and smoking cigarettes
One after another I keep smoking cigarettes
I keep smoking and smoking and smoking cigarettes
Today I am upset
Today I am upset, today I am deadly deadly upset
Because I love her hair (hair)
I love her hair (hair)
I love her hair (hair)
I love her
Night, the cabs are rumbling
Electricity quickly goes out and flickers
The thoughts quickly get entangled
The heart is waiting for the cry and the cry will be let out
The night cry will agitate the surroundings
Meteorically eternal, so cold and so comedic
Today I keep smoking and smoking cigarettes
One after another I keep smoking cigarettes
I keep smoking and smoking and smoking cigarettes
Today I am upset
Today I am upset, today I am deadly deadly upset
Because I love her hair (hair)
I love her hair (hair)
I love her hair (hair)
I love her hair (hair! hair)
I love her
Very upsetting that not enough people know of this band
