I am sure I have grown to sensitive of hue to have the best judgement on these at this point, but I am not quite read to replace our current scan with this interesting, more modeled version. Yellow is a difficult color to photograph but I have seen pictures of this that correspond to our current version here.
If I don’t have to choose the task becomes a lot easier, as I love these new looks at these paintings. The darker yellow brings out detail in this that I really respond to, and I could see the almost-grey pink stripe being a realistic aging of this (at least formerly) rather sunny Rothko. But,I’ll leave both up for now, as our old scan is decent and also huge, if you go an enlarge it. The more I look at this one, though,the more I become taken with it’s weight and depth.
