sitting astride your rain-soaked back heavy steps in muddy tracks the dampened sky cloaks a shining sun first walk, then trot, now run
My adorable parents and my mom’s horse, Matisse. :)
Even soggy round pen circles are fun with this guy. :)

Over christmas break I got to meet my moms horse Matisse (formerly known as “Lefty” at the rescue he came from) and he is one of the funniest horses Ive met. He’s only been at the house for a couple of month and has already wracked up a ton of nicknames (Baby Legs, Jolly Gold Giant, Owen Wilson, just to name a few) he’s extremely tall, extremely cautious, and extremely kind. Glad you’re part of the herd now, Jolly Gold Baby-Legs Wilson.

Mischief and his considerably larger girlfriend, Sera. <3
Remember how I’ve been trying to bring Osiris out to live with me for actual ages? This excruciating long distance relationship IS FINALLY DRAWING TO A CLOSE! Sie is officially coming out to stay with me mid March of this year! I’m sorry it took me so damn long to get everything sorted, Sie. Can’t wait to have your fuzzy ears in my life everyday again. <3
(Thanks @ashleydiscovers for the picture :))
Santo and Osiris at home in the mountains..
Osiris and Matisse. The white-gold geldings <3
One thing is for sure: I’ll never grow out of leaning out of car windows, watching the moon streaking steady across the sky and imagining that it’s following me home.
Oro valley, after the sun falls behind the mountains.
I call this triptych, “Oops! sorry mom, I forgot to switch it off of manual focus”
I’m back! I finally made it back home yesterday after gallivanting around Arizona/Utah/Colorado for the past couple of weeks. It was a time filled with good old family bonding, many hours of frustration at the overwhelming impossibility of airports, consequentially unplanned road trips, a growing collection of hilariously hideous gas station hats, way too many granola bars, impromptu kitchen karaoke/dance parties, and SNOW (a very big deal for a long-time desert rat such as myself).
I have more pictures than I know what to do with, so you can expect the next several weeks to be, in large part, a photographic love letter to Colorado. And of course Arizona, my first and longest love.
