Hey Tokay-Blog thank you for answering my last question about the wolves mannerisms and learning about the lore you’ve created for their origins. But there is still one thing that is still a mystery. Who raised Death, How did they find out he is one of many other entities, are they ever scared of him, and how do they feel when he enjoys the smell of fear and has blood on his hands when he makes a kill?

I don't think it matters much who raised it. (Though there were thoughts that it was farmers that lived on the outskirts of town). For some reason the parents of the sniper from tf2 come to mind “Not a "crazy gunman", I'm an assassin! The difference bein' one's a job and the other's mental sickness!” x) But no, the custodians hardly knew who he was (and even Wolf himself didn't know. How?) Perhaps he just left them at some point, deciding it was more interesting in the town (more people-more people who would fall under his hot hand). You could call it his sort of adolescence. In the sense that he was bored, and the world around him had to dispel that boredom without much thought to how it would affect the others (But without crossing the line of “law”). Also maybe his instinct for population control kicked in, who knows x) But I suspect there were other ways to blow off steam in the same taverns and bordellos besides legal work as an executioner or killing for money (which was hinted at in the festival sketch series) I had a mind to show Wolf returning with the She-Wolf to his home where he grew up, but I didn't get around to it.

Hey Tokay-Blog Loved your post today. Based on the context of this post where death is where a nice shirt I take it they are on a date. But one thing I notice is that they both embody 2 Ways of being humanoid. Death is acting more like a human while Life is acting more wolf in their mannerisms why is that?

He-he-heh, they're not on a date (¬‿¬ ) Wolf is wearing a shirt because that's his normal clothing (taken from the official concept art at the same time). While he was walking around "in public" so to speak, he could dress more decently. And then it all went to a closed cloak and pants, and already limited to just that.

About behavior. It was mentioned in comic that Wolf was raised by humans, and in fact he is. He does consider himself more human than wolf, and this has affected his mannerisms and behavior among other things. She-wolf, on the other hand, grew up into a pack of wolves and lived relatively peacefully with them until circumstances drew her to a human settlement. And since she is also a humanoid, she began to repeat human manners and try to be "part of the crowd", but her inexperience, wildness and naivety quickly gave her away in front of the Wolf, who at first saw the She-Wolf as an object to have fun with.

The story of their relationship is based on patience (well, or nerves) and a fair amount of time, but in the last comic itself specifically, there's already a interval where Wolf has volunteered to teach She-Wolf manners. Including table manners. One can only guess how many times they both regretted getting involved with each other x)

For wild African tribes, horned cattle have always been a major treasure, and the Dog also has his own herd of cows and goats that he herds through his lands. People that considered him a deity may well have given him various offerings in an attempt to call him into their clan for a blessing. Thus his horned cattle increased or decreased if he decided to give away some of his cows or goats.

Even Kaang himself can't say exactly how many heads his herd numbers, but the trick is that his livestock isn't exactly alive. In African mythology there are usually two worlds - the world of the living and the world of spirits. However, according to some beliefs, the spirits of the dead can stay in the world of the living and harm their own family if they are buried incorrectly. And the Kaang's herd is also at about the same intermediate stage, being neither living nor dead.

But at the same time cattle do not harm anyone, and moreover do not exhaust the land in the usual sense of the word. They are also not always visible to mortals, so sometimes it may seem that a whole herd is coming with the Dog, and sometimes only single individuals. However, he can also summon them to the world of the living and put them under the care of the clans. They are no different from normal animals in this respect, though humans would obviously be particularly protective of them.

The Wolf in the last comic considered the killed goat to be a soul that could go to rebirth (in his afterlife, sheep play a similar role), which didn't make Dog look good in front of him either.

This is in reference to why Wolf was basically angry about it. It would be strange if he resented killing a goat for food. Rather, the topic of spirituality was raised here, in which if Wolf intervenes, it is only indirectly. The Dog, on the other hand, has no boundaries, all are two sides of the same coin. It's all a matter of perspective (Hi, Luteces)

Anonymous asked:

Do you have any personal headcannons or theories of how Death became who he is. Like was he a simple wolf who was gifted to be in charge of reaping souls, or is Death just a for he created for himself?

For me, Wolf was just born that way x) A reincarnation or something that starts fresh with each rebirth. The bet was precisely to make him more alive. I'd have no idea what to do with him if he was thousands years old or something.

In fact, the same Dog is older than him, which is another reason why Wolf dislikes him - not in the habit of thinking anyone's superior x)

I think everyone have already forgotten the other incarnations of Life, whose designs were drawn last year. All this time they have been on my mind because I also wanted to make them into personalities.

The wild african dog of the five stood out the most, as it belonged to a completely different area. While She-wolf, Bear and Lynx live relatively close to each other, Dog is the only one who lives in isolation and therefore has his own perception of his surroundings (plus the fact that he is blind).

Goes by the name Kaang. The locals probably believe that he is the god who, according to African mythology, created the world. The Dog doesn't agree, but he doesn't deny the rumors that are created around him x)

The She-wolf might have been one of the few who could, and more importantly wanted to, visit him.

But Wolf didn't share that opinion. Too alien. Too out of this world x)
