this is gonna sound harsh, but here is how I'm really feeling about the fearmongering posts advocating detransitioning.

if you (esp as a white global north trans person) are responding to fear of repression with promoting detransition and hiding, you are (at least preparing to position yourself for) actively sabotaging transgender liberation.

if you are advocating isolation for yourself, that is a strategy that does not build safety. there is a reason that isolation is an almost universal tactic in abuse (from interpersonal relationships isolating someone from their friends, to prisons separating and isolating incarcerated organizers, to global north nations leveraging embargoes and imperial relationships to isolate socialist countries). if you are isolated, you are much easier to control.

further, if your plan for safety is to go into hiding as an individual, you are abandoning the targets of the same violence who cannot hide. Black trans people are gonna stay Black. Undocumented trans people are gonna stay undocumented. advocating Detransition to protect your own individual self is a blatant refusal of solidarity.

if you want to survive, you need community, and if you want community, you need to be there for other people.
