“male loneliness epidemic” and “friendzoning” are similar concepts to me in that the conditions they describe are literally experienced by everyone at some point in their lives but when its men its some sort of profound injustice that needs to be rectified by checks notes giving them unfettered access to the public good that is Women
my barber exists to confound any political analysts
he's a russian-speaking atheist ukrainian jew who practices buddhist mindfulness, thinks elections don't matter, thinks trump is funny and will be good for business because of lower taxes and tariffs; he thinks highly of our "institutions" and believes they'll weather trump but is worried about him damaging them; he wanted biden to pack the courts with democratic judges; he's pro-immigrant and upset at the anti-immigrant rhetoric, but thinks new immigrants (and young people in general) need to work harder. he also thinks everyone should learn to relax and take it easy. he's pro-abortion and hates vance but respects his grind and agrees young people need to have more kids; he's pro-lgbt. he's anti-political correctness and thinks woke ideology is a disease. speaking of disease, he thinks doctors are fake and medicine doesn't work, and ozempic will kill people. he thinks russia is brutal and russians are barbaric with zero contributions to culture (also a huge fan of tsvetaeva and hates the far right in ukraine), but he wants the war to end at any cost and thinks trump will do it; he has never been to israel and won't go but he is 100% standing with its right to defend itself; he's angry at the antisemitism on campus. in general, however, he believes politics doesn't matter, your vote doesn't matter, elections are for show, the ruling class is the same no matter what color is in government. he thinks people exaggerate trump's negative qualities. he strongly believes in the chinese century; he thinks bhutan is the ideal political, social, and cultural model.
he is a consistent, solid D voter, never voted R, and voted harris in this election

I’m tired of this complex queer goyim have where they think all lgbt people were persecuted by the Nazis as if there aren’t very famously queer Nazis and collaborators, and as if queer German Christians couldn’t get out of it by signing a fucking affidavit and/or getting lavender married, which was not a grace afforded to Jews or Roma
like man Charlotte von Mahlsdorf did a ton for the east Berlin queer community but she also very much did directly get her first ladies’ clothes and jewels by raiding (presumably largely cishet) Jews’ homes after they were deported.
guess who lived, not just past 1945, but to see the new millennium?
Erich Kästner: Über das Verbrennen von Büchern
“On my desk there is a stone with the word “Amen” on it, a triangular fragment of stone from a Jewish graveyard destroyed many generations ago. The other fragments, hundreds upon hundreds, were scattered helter-skelter, and a great yearning, a longing without end, fills them all: first name in search of family name, date of death seeks dead man’s birthplace, son’s name wishes to locate name of father, date of birth seeks reunion with soul that wishes to rest in peace. And until they have found one another, they will not find a perfect rest. Only this stone lies calmly on my desk and says “Amen.” But now the fragments are gathered up in loving kindness by a sad good man. He cleanses them of every blemish, photographs them one by one, arranges them on the floor in the great hall, makes each gravestone whole again, one again: fragment to fragment, like the resurrection of the dead, a mosaic, a jigsaw puzzle. Child’s play.”
— Yehuda Amichai, “The Amen Stone” from The Selected Poetry of Yehuda Amichai (trans. Chana Bloch)
