Can you share some Father’s Day headcanons for Jack please! ☺️

4 month late reply...so sorry, anon. I wish I got to this during father's day back in June. But I always love thinking of dad!Jack, and it melts me every time. <3

  • The Skellington Children always want to do something special for Father's Day, and they usually spend the day before practicing the best scaring tricks to impress Jack with.
  • The kids also make him things, like crafts, drawings, etc.
  • ^ Since they've formed their own xylophone band, they compose a special song for Jack and perform/sing it for him.
  • Jack sets some time aside to spend with Dr. Finkelstein (his appointed paternal figure), and experiments + practices science in the lab with him.
  • Sally makes his favorite dinner each year and ensures he's not overworking for the day, with Halloween planning and the such.
  • ^ He takes the day off to spend time with his family and for himself, with the prior behind his priority.
  • He uses his free time to re-read his favorite books and Shakespearean plays. Sally and the kids volunteer to act out his favorite scenes, and he joins along with them.
  • He listens to some of the advice + parenting stories from fellow fathers in Halloween Town.

hiii do you have any Jack and Sally Mothers Day headcanons?? :) <3

!!!! This is so cute, I'll make some now! <3

  • Jack and the Skellington Kids plan a whole day dedicated to Sally, where they make sure she takes it easy and shower her with gifts.
  • Sally usually spends some time with the other Halloween Town mothers, to chat and catch up on things, but to also share their experiences with motherhood and their children.
  • Jack makes Sally her favorite breakfast + dinner, and takes care of all the household chores + babysitting for the day.
  • ^ He and Sally reflect on their family and how things have changed through the years, he expresses how great of a mother she is and ensures his wife is happy and not dealing with too much on her own.
  • Jack has looked into national holidays such as Mother's Day, and discreetly includes some of them into the Town's celebrations, putting an emphasis on mothers and fathers during their celebrated days.
  • Sally considers Jewel her new maternal figure after some years, and invites her over to have some tea and see the grandchildren.
  • Since her family wants her to take it easy, Sally gets invested in a good book and takes the day to work on some personal sewing projects of hers.

Hi! The author of the next LLTPQ book mentioned the book will be about time and this might be really far fetched lol but it reminded of the epilogue of Santa asking Jack would he go back in time to relieve the events of Christmas. Idk if the author knows about the epilogue, but it would be such a interesting story if it was connected!! Your thoughts?

ANONNNNN! I LOVE WHERE YOU'RE GOING WITH THIS!

I don't know how well-known the Epilogue is, either, but I'm always crossing my fingers to see the Skellington children someday. But if Megan integrated Santa Claus' line like that - putting Jack Skellington in a situation where he could do the Christmas thing all over again with what he knew now - I'd love to see it!! What he would fix and what he wouldn't...

I really am intrigued how 'time' is going to be woven in the story and what will happen. I'm obviously on the edge of my seat hoping to see Jack and Sally starting a family, but we can only wait..! Rrgh!

As a fan of LLTPQ + Megan Shepherd’s novel I’m personally excited for what the sequel novel. Do you have any headcanons for what it possibly could about? Also I love your blog!

I'm so excited, too!! I loved Megan Shepherd's novel and her writing, I can't wait to see her sequel to Long Live the Pumpkin Queen!

Personally, with the way LLTPQ ended, I think the next novel *should* either be about the new Holiday Worlds that Jack and Sally uncover + explore, and/or about them starting a family and what that brings to Halloween Town + the holidays.

I've previously made a post for what I also hope to see in the next continuation:

If Jack Skellington and Sally had a daughter, what name would they give her (they are obliged to answer) and if it were a boy, what name would they give her (the same)... :3

I've shared a somewhat beloved-fanon headcanon that Jack knows how to speak French(and is French himself), and would want to name his children as such, while Sally would definitely pick a name she liked from a book she's read.

I've started working on my Skellington OCs a couple nights ago, but I want to keep them a bit of a surprise, so all I will say is that one of them is Elroy Skellington.

Hello! There’s been discussion of the ways of how the Skellington children came to be, whether being created, born and etc. Is there any way in particular you believe on how they were brought to life? And has your thoughts of how kids the exist changed any after reading LLTPQ?

I’ve had this discussions a few times on my blog. I think it’s subjective on how the Skellington Children were conceived - some people headcanon Dr. Finkelstein assembled them for Jack and Sally, while others HC Sally was pregnant and gave birth to them. But adoption headcanons aren’t too far from the question, either! <3 (I personally go with the ‘Sally being pregnant’ idea, but any interpretation is valid!)

Long Live the Pumpkin Queen left me with more questions than answers, tbh. It’s implied Greta gave birth to Sally, since she was “born” and grew to the age of 12 in Dream Town. Apparently, a rag dolls species exist - though I don’t know how they reproduce? Either way, it means Sally *may* be capable of procreation, but as for Jack’s end.....weeellll....

The Skellington Children are described as skeletons in the Epilogue, rather than a skeleton-ragdoll mixture(although it’s not *impossible*!). I have no clue what’s going on with Jack, if he’s able to bear children like Sally. LLTPQ has Sally interested in having kids with him, and they’re described as skeleton-ragdoll hybrids! (At least, the girls being rag dolls and boys being skeletons...that’s another subject, haha).

LLTPQ leads me to the ‘Sally being pregnant’ theory - but I wish we had known Jack’s input on wanting children, if he *can* have them with her, and everything...but, alas. It’s still up to our interpretation! <3

Do you have any headcanons for Albert and Greta you’d like to share? I like to think they fell in love while working to overthrow the Sandman and later married when they became governors of Dream Town

LOVE THAT, ANON! In fact, I now share that HC with you! <3 I haven’t made any headcanons for the LLTPQ characters *yet*, and this is a great place to start!

  • Like other rag dolls, Albert’s initial job was being a Dream Weaver, but he was passionate in science and literature, and spent more time in the Lullaby Library instead.
  • ^ He eventually made the breakthrough in daydreaming and wrote the first theories about it. His invention earned admiration in Dream Town, and particularly, Greta’s attention.
  • Greta has a strong attachment to children and was committed to her job with helping them sleep. She prefers reading them bedtime stories and acting as a soft plush for them to hold.
  • ^ When the Sandman became cruel & greedy, he demanded a bigger quota from Dream Weavers, which made Greta spend less time with the children. She hated this, knowing he was also stealing their dreams, making her efforts in vain.
  • Albert, in return, was pushed into overworking late night shifts. His research was being rushed and he was quickly losing his passion.
  • He and Greta began talking over their hatred of what their jobs were becoming due to the Sandman, and his cruel reign as of late. They met together after their shifts to begin conspiring, and reaching out to fellow Citizens.
  • ^ In this time, they learned a lot about each other and fell in love. They started a relationship, but prioritized overthrowing the Sandman above everything else. (Their shared goal only strengthened their feelings for each other.)
  • Albert and Greta were chosen to be the spokesmen of Dream Town. They listened to what their fellow weavers, citizens, researchers, and authors had to say, and advocated for better treatment for them. They talked about improving life in Dream Town. Their suggestions were highly agreed with.
  • After the wall was built and the Sandman was banished into the woods, there was no question on electing Albert and Greta as their new leaders. They carried through with their promises and ultimately made Dream Town better for its people.
  • ^ Once the Sandman was out of the picture, they wasted no time getting married. Their union was highly supported by the town.
  • Governing Dream Town took most of Greta’s time, and she couldn’t serve as a dream weaver as much as she used to. She desperately missed children - so it was her idea to have one with Albert.
  • ^ This is why Greta was so attached to Sally when she was first born, sleeping with her every night. She missed helping children fall asleep and wanted to recreate these moments for as long as she could.
  • When they lost Sally, it was a dark time. They were depressed and Dream Town suffered. They eventually pulled through and continued governing as strong as they could - but it was clear things wouldn’t be as happy as they once were.
  • Albert mentioned having another child or two, but Greta refused. She was too attached to Sally and spent every night hoping someday she would come back.
  • In the future, the two are ecstatic to be grandparents and spoil the Skellington Children as much as they can, ensuring they sleep well and lending their best lullaby stories to Jack and Sally. They routinely come by Halloween Town to check in on their family.
  • ^ Someday, they’ll present the idea of one of their grandkids taking over Dream Town in their place, which has yet to be decided on....

One thing I’m personally glad about LLTPQ is that it essentially confirms that Sally is the mom of the “4 or 5 skeleton children” mentioned in the epilogue of the film’s soundtrack. I remember reading through a lot of TNBC wikis saying that Sally was “possibly”their mother since it was never stated outright. Just a nice little conclusion to a piece of TNBC that’s been around for a while I feel

I saw a lot of Sally-centered hate back in the day from someone on deviantART, who argued that she "isn't PROVED to be the mother of the 4-5 skeleton kids". Since her name wasn't stated outright, it's usually been considered a 'possibility', even though the Epilogue was supposed to (or I assume) play right after Jack & Sally's kiss, where we can easily surmise that she's the mother...being Jack's canonical love interest and all...

LLTPQ mentioning what it did showed us that Sally is interested in having children with Jack. So we can assume it might've been her idea, and now that they're happily married, they are certainly her own... :)

Since Jack named Zero...he names all the rest of his children numbers as well - One, Two, Three, Four and Five Skellington (jokn ;) )

LOL!

The funniest part about this, though, is that another dog in the TNBC universe exists, and his name is actually One! (Who also happens to be deceased, and drawn as a ghost dog like Zero!)

I wonder if the creators did this intentionally...or if it's just a huge coincidence that Mr. Myzer named him One!

Hello. Do you have any headcanons on how the Halloween Town Band would interact with the 4-5 skeleton children? (I personally think it would be sweet if the band babysat for the kids and encouraged them to play their own music) Would love to hear what you think! :)

Ahhh! Thank you, anon, I've been DYING to talk about this!!

I think the Skellington children get their musical talent from Jack and Sally, who can sing! But their main inspiration came from seeing the Halloween Town Band play. In my HC, they watched them playing before they had the courage to pick up instruments themselves. Naturally, they asked the Band to teach them music!

They even set up routine lessons to teach them(supported by Jack and Sally). They help them rehearse, tune their instruments, etc.! It might be a weekly thing, for the Band to come by and teach the Skellington kids! (Like you said, they could also be babysitters, who spend the time instructing them.)

When the children start their own band, I imagine they modelled it off of the Halloween Town Band and asked for their advice/help through the process. They practically idolize them and learned everything they knew from them! They're happy to answer the kids' questions and encourage their music in return!

Hello, if Sally would’ve had hers and Jack’s skeleton children rather than them being created from a lab… Do you think Sally would be hesitant to bring the kids around Dr. Finkelstein in fear he would want to experiment on them or want to keep them away from her?

Oh..! This reminds me of a scene from one of my favorite TNBC fanfics, 100 Women: Halloweentown Anthology! (Which I highly recommend reading, if my followers haven’t!)

I feel like this varies on how you would view the Doctor and Sally’s relationship - I personally headcanon them to reconcile and mend their relationship as father/daughter(after the movie’s events). However, I’ve seen other interpretations around where Sally would completely cut ties with Finklestein and doesn’t want to see him again(which is valid!).

If Sally and the Doctor were still on bad terms, I think she’d be protective of her skeleton children. She’d begrudgingly bring them to him for medical reasons - as he probably has more experience with these things - but would refuse anything beyond check-ups. With the way he treated her, she doesn’t trust his parenting judgement and is afraid he’ll take them away and lock them up, like he did with her. Finklestein may also not view highly of her capabilities with being a mother - so her fears would be justified, if he’d take them away thinking he could do a better job.

I don’t think he’d want to experiment on the children, rather being an irrational fear Sally has. Either way, she’d have her kids under intense watch around him. Since he respects Jack Skellington, I don’t think he’ll do anything extreme like taking his kids away or experimenting on them - but it does damper the trust between the Doctor and Sally. Their relationship would still be strained, even more so with the skeleton children now in the picture.

Recently the epilogue was asked about to Chris Sarandon and Ken Page at a panel! You can find it by searching 'Nightmare Before Christmas Q&A Panel 2022 MegaCon Orlando! Chris Sarandon and Ken Page' and it's under the YT channel 'Fast Times Vero'.

ANON! I can't thank you enough for telling me about this - I saw some Ken Page & Chris Sarandon events recently, but didn't look into them since I was away at the time. (The question is asked at 12:35)

I think this was a *really* funny question to ask to begin with - since Danny Elfman was the one who wrote the Epilogue. I didn't think they had an answer but the one they gave was PRICELESS. This is HILARIOUS ;;

"MAGIC."

I hope they weren't too uncomfortable with the question btw? Everyone seems to want to know how Jack and Sally had the skeleton kids. But it's probably not the most comfortable to answer in public, I imagine, so I hope they were fine with it? I think in another Interview somewhere Chris stated that he sees Jack as Asexual, so I wonder if that contributed for their answer? :)
