Wait, if Tim Burton didn't make the Tnbc Movie, then why does everyone think that he did????
I didn't know about it myself, so I'm a little surprised
Biggest reason? His name being in the movie's title, which is the main "argument" people usually have when saying Nightmare is his movie:
Secondly, people and fanpages CONSTANTLY sharing images like this, that incorrectly includes TNBC in lineups of "Tim Burton Movies" (i.e. movies he usually directed) :
And Google showing Nightmare as one of the top results for "his movies" directly next to films he directed:
And lastly...people never bothering to check the movie's credits. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Honestly, this whole misconception stirs from it being called "Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas", as it associates his name with the movie, it's the first thing you hear/read after all. And if he DIDN'T direct it, then "why does it have his name in title!?"
Thanks a lot, Disney! I hate you!

R.I.P to Ken Page. Fly high legend 🕊️
After I heard the news about Ken Page’s passing, I got right to work in creating this art piece of Oogie Boogie. I’ve met Ken Page and seen him perform on stage. Even for just a brief moment, you got a sense of his bubbly personality. He will be greatly missed 💚
Thinking about how we could’ve had a Nightmare-permanent ride attraction at Disneyland AND a Jill Thompson TNBC graphic novel if it wasn’t for Tim Burton… 🤔
@sunnydinthereal So Jill Thompson (the artist of the comic pages on the bottom) was hired by Dark Horse to illustrate a graphic novel adaption for The Nightmare Before Christmas. While they were trying to get Tim Burton to greenlight the idea, she completed the sample pages above -- only to be told that Burton rejected the project, but didn't give a reason as to why. It's assumed he didn't want graphic novel adaptations at the time, which has obviously changed since he's approved a lot more adaptions in recent days...
Here's some fun artwork of hers I was able to find, though!
The concept art on top was for a potential permanent Nightmare ride at Disneyland, made by Christopher Merritt, a theme park designer and part of Disney Imagineering. This post was from 2018 and I believe I had read or seen from an interview at the time that Tim Burton declined the idea for a permanent ride, but another uncredited source says Imagineering did not think the movie was popular enough for its own ride. Eirher way, it may have been a cancelled project, but I can't say for certain about the details. Alas!
