If youu’ve been active in the Snyder Cut campaign, you’re gonna want to give this a read
The most pathetic part of any fandom
Me: I really enjoy this (insert movie/tv show/character/etc).
Some asshole:
Me: It’s funny how you think you’re the fucking boss of me and that I need the approval of your narrow minded judgmental ass

What I got out of the 2010s
If you enjoy something and believe it to be good, there’s nothing wrong with that and you are in no way obligated to change your stance.
And if others try to dictate otherwise by trying to invalidate your opinion by saying you don’t have any taste, that you only like it out of nostalgia, you’re not a “real fan” or some dumb crap like that, it only shows their overwhelming insecurity.
Enjoy what you love, no matter what other people say.
This person is speaking straight to my soul
The most toxic Snyder Cut supporter I could think of doesn’t hold one motherfucking candle to the 6 years of bullying and toxicity the DCEU and his fans have to go through to this day.
WB already rewarded toxicity by trying to appease the blogger demographic that thinks Superman’s character doesn’t go beyond “I SMILE A LOT AND SAVE KITTENS” and that the Marvel Formula is what all films should blindly follow without question. Pitiful.
And if anyone writes “bUt TheY wEre ShiTtY mOviEs” no. Like, no. Leave at once.
I saw those tweets on Twitter. While I became a DCEU fan later. I definitely agree with this person.
Not to mention that there are fandoms that got away with so much worse:
-MCU saw fans harass a young actress who wasn’t in the mood to give out autographs and when Spider-Man at the time was out of the MCU, fans wanted to bomb Sony/Japan over it. That’s not even regarding their insecure need to dump on anything that isn’t the MCU.
-This year I’ve seen the Pokemon fandom at its lowest by not only demonizing anyone who showed excitement for Sword and Shield but some also begged Trump to prevent the games from coming in the country.
-And then there’s Star Wars, take your pick: demonizing anyone who enjoyed favors the Prequel Trilogy, harassment of actors/actresses to the point where it lead to them leaving social media, considering suicide, developed schizophrenia or throw over the top tantrums to film directors that goes far beyond the line of criticism, etc.
The DCEU fandom is not a collection of innocent angels that is true, but guess what no fandom is.
All the unnecessary hate against Zack Snyder and David Ayer, along with comic book debates in general(mainly everything was better in my childhood and all comic book material has to be strictly “fun”) really helped me reconnect with anime because discourse like “Who would win fight between Goku and All Might” and “Who will Asta marry in Black Clover” is a relaxing spa day in comparison.
Some idiot: Snyder fans are not real DC fans.
Me, a DC fan who have been following DC-related content since the 2001 JL cartoon, loves Snyder’s contribution to the DCEU and optimistic about projects that he’s not involved in:
In a recent post created by @comingupforblair I discovered a review for Shazam by @ladyjenevia. It was a great watch and it got me thinking.
So we can agree that it’s tiring to go through a review for a film that starts out positive but eventually falls into the tangent of whining how Man of Steel ‘ruined muh childhood’ or how the person can’t get over the Martha moment in BvS. I feel to aide each other and to save us multiple headaches of dealing with detractors we should share articles, videos, and personalities that are truly optimistic for the DCEU whenever we run across them. It may be hard to find but I feel that every little bit we can get will help us surviving this fandom more bearable.
Some could twist this around and say that this is some desperate attempt to create an echo chamber for fanboys of the DCEU. But I’ll gladly take that over the invasive echo chamber of how every superhero media has to be exact replica of the MCU or else it’s a blasphemy against god.
I have no issue with standalone solo films but I’m gonna be pissed if I don’t get to see these great heroes interact with each other.
I still want a connected DC films universe.
I want to see these heroes team up again.
Regardless of what may happen for the future of the DC extended universe, all I can ask is for that the DCEU be its own thing and not a full blown ripoff of the MCU. Also in Superman’s case: move on from the Richard Donner era it’s not 1978 anymore.
Raise your hand if you’ve been told “You’re not a real fan of X if you love Y” and you didn’t buy that crap for a minute.
Having a preference for darker material does not make you an edgelord or emo.
If you prefer lighter stuff that’s fine but don’t ever call me or anyone else an edgelord because we like things that have a darker tone. Also don’t expect me to hold back calling you a bunch of overgrown 3 year olds because I’m getting sick of that shit.
My take on why fandoms are getting worse.
Person A: Despite what other people say, I love this game/movie/tv show/book/etc.
Person B: You’re the worst person alive and I hope you kill yourself.
Person A: Why is it a problem that I enjoy something that you don’t?
Person B: Because I can’t possibly live on with my life unless everyone thinks the same way as me even though what you do has no direct consequence on what I enjoy. Again kill yourself.
You know if you like a film, game, tv show, whatever it is you enjoy you are in no way obligated to say “I know it’s flawed but,” because
A. Everything has flaws if you look hard enough or just nitpicky.
B. It only gives more power to the haters which leads into dumb responses of “Oh we have an apologist/a person who’s clearly in denial”
Fuck that shit
