Raise your hand if you’re tired of hearing “the original is always better” mentality.

For the people who will watch the Teen Titans Go! x Powerpuff Girls crossover tomorrow and then bitch about how their childhood was ruined for the 400th time instead of moving on to something that they actually like, I have 2 things for you:

Fries for your salt

And Cheese for your whine (chocolate milk not included).

There’s a chance that the United States might elect a president who is willing to persecute about 3 million people based on their religion because of actions of a few.

But please rant on about how “the x reboot is ruining your childhood” is the sign of the apocalypse.

When people say “don’t like don’t watch” it’s not because they can’t handle criticism. It’s for the people who came to the conclusion that “x is not for me” and then decide to watch it anyway just to constantly bash on it every waking moment instead of moving on to something that won’t “give them cancer”.

For example, let’s say I watch season 1 of Supernatural; didn’t like it, gave season 2 a chance; didn’t improve my opinion, then after season 3 I decide that the Supernatural is not to my liking. So why would I watch seasons 4-11 if I’m not a fan of the first 3? Why waste my time on something that for whatever reasons didn’t entertain me instead of finding something else that will?

If you need to say I don’t like “x” that’s fine but if you only have yourselves to blame if you decide to put your hands in the fire after complaining about getting burned.

I’ve come to really hate nostalgia. Just saw the new ghostbusters trailer, it was ok and I had no problems with it. Then I made the mistake of going in the comment section:

“The original will always be supreme!”

“Feminazis ruin everything!”

“That trailer gave me cancer!”

“Stop ruining classics Hollywood!”

Let’s remember the reason these reboots happen because people brag about how things were great when they were 9 and everything today sucks in comparison. It wouldn’t surprise me if adults in the 90s went through the same shit and ranted about how shows should be more like leave it to beaver and I dream of genie.

Reboots of old franchises won’t stop and that might be annoying. But what’s more annoying is people jumping on the bandwagon of “This is nothing like the original, so it automatically sucks ass!” and act like the things they loved from yesteryear was sooooooo perfect and had no flaws.

And the worst thing is that there are people willing to give these things a chance and some of them might end up liking it. But we can’t have that. People liking something that’s not the original content? Oh no! Everybody grab your torches and pitchforks because they’re obviously planted by the evil corporations. No one is allowed to have their own free minds!

It’s stuff like this is why I try to have an open mind this stuff because expecting everything to be the same is setting yourself up for disappointment

For the next revival of an old popular series (because it’s gonna happen whether we like it or not), I’ll try to stay away from the internet about it because I’ve gotten so tired of the nostalgic babies whining “It’s not like how I remembered!” “The animation is literally giving me cancer!” “Stop raping my childhood”. Seriously if you hate these remakes so much, make your peace with it and move on. It will save you the mutliple migraines and heart attacks you’ll get from putting yourself in constant negativity.
