     Knowing time has indeed passed quite a bit in Anne’s world, due to them being beyond overjoyed to see their daughter alive and well, makes me very curious about how much time has passed in their world. Anne has lived in Amphibia for several months, so how much time does that equal in contrast to Earth’s reality? I’m dying to know because her mother’s facial expression here has me thinking it’s been equal to that amount of time, if not longer possibly? She looks so utterly heartbroken over Anne’s sudden disappearance. Who knows how much she could’ve been beating herself up over thinking about why Anne “disappeared” or daring to even consider her daughter “ran” away from them for whatever reason. Either way, it’s every parent’s worst fear of not knowing why their child vanished into thin air. For however long she waited, Anne’s mother had to keep her mind off those kinds of ideas and hold out hope she’d see her kid return to their doorstep. 

    It’s this little dramatic moment of context that adds more weight behind their loving embrace of a reunion. You can see the internal pain written all over her face before she opened the door to Anne. There’s no doubt it’s been weighing heavily on her mind, where she’s had to find ways to distract herself from that sadness this poor parent has been carrying for quite an apparent amount of time. Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if Anne’s mother probably considered the notion of, “ Was I too hard on her? Did I not do a good job after all of being a mother to my own daughter?” , which is quickly put to rest when Anne says hello in such a tone of love & admiration toward her. 

     Honestly, I’m so interested in seeing what kind of drama we’ll get out of Anne and her mother’s dynamic. God, if we get a flashback of when Anne’s parents were waiting for her to come back for the birthday celebration, that’s gonna seriously hurt on so many levels seeing the anguish they went through of realizing their daughter is missing and on such an important day of one’s life, no less. Naturally, since Anne doesn’t want her parents to know about the current dangers in Amphibia, this makes for a very good build up into dramatic revelations when they discover what kind of a dangerous place Anne had been living in without their protection or guidance. Could easily see her mother trying to protect Anne and doing a gut punch callback to what Anne said to Marcy in Season 2, “Because I just got you back, okay!? And I don’t…I don’t want to lose you again…”, making a perfect dramatic moment of heartbreak for them both. 

     Needless to say, I’m so ecstatic for Amphibia Season 3 returning as early as it is. Thought we’d be waiting for a whole year worst case scenario, but nope. We got ourselves such a lovely sneak peak of what’s to come for our lovable heroine in October. I’m ready, yet not really obviously, to see some Boonchuy family drama with Anne trying to keep them safe from Andrias’ terror. Real talk, this hug here is giving some serious Digimon Adventure emotional vibes. If they go that route of inspiration for what the Vamdemon arc accomplished, then it’s gonna be a real damn good time seeing how it all plays out.
