Korra and Asami only held hands because Nickelodeon wouldn’t let them do more.  Nick infamously cancelled Korra and put out the rest of season 4 as a webseries only.

Marceline and Princess Bubblegum only kiss in the very final episode because Cartoon Network wouldn’t let them do more.  There are a ton of interviews with Pendelton and with the voice actresses where they talk about the CN censorship.

Steven Universe got as far as it did because Rebecca Sugar fought tooth and nail, and risked the show getting cancelled (which it did in many countries, if not heavily censored), because Cartoon Network wouldn’t let her.  Ruby was often dubbed over with a male voice, and Pearl/Rose interactions were completely cut.

She-Ra managed to do it largely because it was specifically on Netflix only, and even then, Noelle has said they had to build 4 seasons of storyline very subtly around it so they had enough ammo to convince the execs that Catradora was the only logical conclusion to this show they had already aired.  She didn’t just go in on Day 1 and make it gay; she had to plan many years in advance for how to set up her argument.  Her argument, y’all.

And now we have The Owl House.  Which is an absolutely wonderful show.  And it’s so amazing that we actually get to see queer characters get the kind of representation that so many straight characters get.  And it’s amazing we get to see the romance build up, instead of just a quick peck in the series finale!

Let’s not forget that in the US, it was illegal for gay people to get married until 2015.  Korra aired in 2012.  In Texas, it was a punishable felony to even be gay until 2003.  No, literally.  Just being gay was an arrestable offense here in Texas until 2003.  We have come a really long way in 20 years!

But don’t fucking dare disrespect any of these other shows by saying they didn’t try, or that their representation didn’t matter.  The Owl House is standing on the shoulders of giants.  Lumity is only where it is because Korrasami and Bubbline helped get them there.

BOPAL!

So Bolin and Opal will stay together, and I imagine Bolin will take the Beifong surname (Bolin Beifong) and will live part-time in Zaofu and part-time in Republic City. Opal will become a respected leader of the Air Nation and will contribute a great deal to its humanitarian efforts around the world. The story may change depending on the content of the new Korra comics, but Bolin will eventually leave his police job and will join Varrick’s mover company to direct / write / produce movers and colorset (tv) shows (he’s always been great with showbiz). He’ll make quite a bit of money and will dabble in whatever industry / idea strikes his fancy. During Legend of Genji, Bolin is “between projects” (i.e. he’s relaxing all the time in Zaofu with his family and enjoying himself). Opal has given up lecturing him on his capricious approach to work. (Bolin sort of let himself go haha, but he can still earth/lava bend like hell!)

Janet Varney (the voice of Korra) and Seychelle Gabriel (the voice of Asami Sato) will be reading The Legend of Korra: Turf Wars Part One as their characters! This will happen on the Dark Horse channel on Twitch, on April 6th at 2pm PT!

The specific part they’ll be reading is the beginning spirit world vacation portion, which is why it’s just these two voice actors.

Broke: Suyin should’ve stepped up and helped the Earth Kingdom get back under stability. It’s her responsibility.

Woke: Suyin was responsible for a nation not under Earth Kingdom control, so it wasn’t her responsibility to take over and save the Earth Kingdom. She also was vehemently against over-powered leaders which would have betrayed her own beliefs.

What I got out of the 2010s

If you enjoy something and believe it to be good, there’s nothing wrong with that and you are in no way obligated to change your stance.

And if others try to dictate otherwise by trying to invalidate your opinion by saying you don’t have any taste, that you only like it out of nostalgia, you’re not a “real fan” or some dumb crap like that, it only shows their overwhelming insecurity.

Enjoy what you love, no matter what other people say.

korra: *is able to bend three out of four elements at the age of four*
korra: *breaks out of amon's bloodbending hold without going into the avatar state and defeats him with first-time airbending*
korra: *defeats the spirit of darkness with only the sheer strength of her own inner spirit and ensures another 10,000 years of order and light*
korra: *learns metalbending in a day and becomes the first metalbending avatar*
korra: *defeats zaheer with heavy amounts of deadly poison in her body*
korra: *overcomes past trauma caused by her enemies and comes back stronger than before*
korra: *rips open a new spirit portal with her bare hands*
haters: korra is the weakest avatar ever

My take on why fandoms are getting worse.

Person A: Despite what other people say, I love this game/movie/tv show/book/etc.

Person B: You’re the worst person alive and I hope you kill yourself.

Person A: Why is it a problem that I enjoy something that you don’t?

Person B: Because I can’t possibly live on with my life unless everyone thinks the same way as me even though what you do has no direct consequence on what I enjoy. Again kill yourself.

I’m very worried about Mr Enter’s upcoming review of Legend of Korra season one because I fear that it’s gonna re-summon all the Aang wankers who constantly bitch about everything little thing Korra does.

Worst he may become the Mr. Plinklett of the Avatar fandom where when someone says they like Korra, some asshole is gonna force the review on them.

I’m not saying the show or Korra is perfect. But don’t act like Aang is some flawless saint that could do no wrong or the show is so perfect.

On an unrelated note I’m getting tired of the “original is better” mentality with every single fandom.
