Happy sixth anniversary, BvS! Here’s to many more viewings and debates in the years to come!
How can people say that DCEU Superman is not their Superman, when he literally saved the man(Lex Luthor) who tried to have his own mother killed?? That is as Superman as it gets.
It’s been a while but I’ve made a new DCEU video!
Here’s the back-story. I was on YouTube THIS YEAR (2020) minding my own business, clicked on a video that was not about the DCEU, Zack Snyder, etc. and out of nowhere, the creator made a snide comment about how “Henry Cavill’s Superman Doesn’t Smile” and I decided I had time to address that absurd, inaccurate claim. Enjoy! Also, if you can ‘like’ the video on the actual YouTube page, it would really help me out as a small creator. Thank you!
“So you’re actually a fan of Zack Sny-”
Having a preference for darker material does not make you an edgelord or emo.
If you prefer lighter stuff that’s fine but don’t ever call me or anyone else an edgelord because we like things that have a darker tone. Also don’t expect me to hold back calling you a bunch of overgrown 3 year olds because I’m getting sick of that shit.
My reaction when someone says Superman and Batman stopped fighting in BvS because their mothers shared the same name
My take on why fandoms are getting worse.
Person A: Despite what other people say, I love this game/movie/tv show/book/etc.
Person B: You’re the worst person alive and I hope you kill yourself.
Person A: Why is it a problem that I enjoy something that you don’t?
Person B: Because I can’t possibly live on with my life unless everyone thinks the same way as me even though what you do has no direct consequence on what I enjoy. Again kill yourself.
You know if you like a film, game, tv show, whatever it is you enjoy you are in no way obligated to say “I know it’s flawed but,” because
A. Everything has flaws if you look hard enough or just nitpicky.
B. It only gives more power to the haters which leads into dumb responses of “Oh we have an apologist/a person who’s clearly in denial”
Fuck that shit
““ Too often I think studios and filmmakers have a preconceived notion of what audiences’ expectations will be based on a film’s genre. I believe this approach often sets a course that funnels many projects down a familiar pathway with comfortable choices and safe decisions. I’ll be the first to admit that sometimes this actually works, creating cinematic “comfort food” that delivers and satisfies. But more often than not, it leaves me as a viewer dissatisfied, wanting more and wishing I didn’t know what was waiting for me around every corner. That is why I like creating projects that are self-aware. In my opinion, the trick is being self-aware without becoming self-conscious, having an awareness of a project’s roots, but not being stifled by the typical genre pre-conceptions. ““
I am officially sick of hearing “X is bad because it’s too dark and edgy” because I find that to be stupid; mostly due to people over exaggerating the tone itself. The thing that people need to understand is that not every video game, movie, tv show etc., has to be confined in a world of sunshine, lollipops and rainbows and shit all the time. It’s not going to kill anyone if we have some tonal variety within our media.
Just because people prefer something with a serious tone does not make them “preteens trying to be grown up or fit in with the cool kids”. It would be like calling people who prefer lighter material: “a bunch of adult children who refuses to grow up and fosters the mentality of a 2 year old infant who never learned how to properly use a bathroom”. Both of these mindsets aren’t helping anyone. Also it is possible to want both. You can prefer dark material, yet still enjoy lighter stuff and vice versa.
And if having a charcter or storyline take itself seriously “too edgy” for you, do me a favor; go to something that fit your tonal tastes, enjoy yourself and please for the love of god, do not use it to attack something that dares to exist outside the lighthearted/non-serious tone because I’m getting sick of that bullshit as well.
Raise your hand if you want the current DCEU to live on with it’s own identity that isn’t “Marvel-lite”
REBLOG IF YOU LOVE ZACK SNYDER
Is it weird that I love the theatrical release of Justice League but still want a Zack Snyder cut because I can see how, some scenes and characters like Iris West got cut out, WB screwed with the film (for the 3rd time) and pissed that they’re throwing Zack under the bus to save their own asses?
Comicbook.com is an irritating website, but they’ve opened up the voting for their annual awards.
Obviously, I have voted BvS, Zack Snyder and DCEU wherever applicable, and I urge my friends here to do the same. What is amazing is how much higher BvS is coming out in these results so far. It fills me with so much happiness.
