Promo for Supernatural 13x03 - “Patience”

Just realized I am not going to be able to watch this live. This is a problem. Today is my anniversary, but my husband is working, and they wanted him to work tomorrow and through the weekend, but he was like “Dude. It’s my anniversary and my wife is leaving on Friday for four days.” so his boss was like, “no, dude, I’ll cover your shift for Thursday. Take your wife on a date.” Which, yay! But also, oh no! Ratings for this are SUPER. IMPORTANT. I’m just one person, yeah, but the bronlies are boycotting the episode to try and get it to fail and “teach Dabb a lesson”. I’d be ADDING to their numbers!!!!! THAT REALLY STRESSES ME OUT.

This episode is going to kick ass! It looks like Sam is going to be pretty awesomely badass and his sweet glorious self regarding Jack and Dean’s story looks brilliant and full of character depth, I can’t WAIT!

I spot...

…a lot of earthy colors. Fits with the pattern of the season so far - see Jack’s jacket, etc. The pattern of Missouri’s shirt also recalls the geometric lines on Jack’s jacket. Missouri’s shirt also has some bright orange-y lines which bring us to the next pic…

Interesting composition - from a very bright reddish color, to a darker, less saturated deep red, to a even less saturated brown. Guess who’s the saddest person in the picture?

The bright red contrasting with brown jackets reminds me of something…

I wondered why they’d chosen such a bright color for Clark’s jackets (yes, I know he’s the color of a Clark bar, but, other than that) and now it seems we’re going to see a pattern in the use of that kind of color. Interesting.

But! There is not just reds and browns:

Glorious yellow with a little white! *waves hand towards the meta written about the use of yellow in the premiere around Cas*

More yellow - the eye in a triangle is a symbol of God. This sign, though, has an eye with a yellow exterior and a light blue iris - Castiel’s angelic eyes without interference from Jack’s powers?

@tinkdw speaking of truth and Dean speaking openly about the nature of their jobs/lives to people unaware of the supernatural, let’s not forget that 13x03 (about a character, Patience, who’s going to learn the truth about the supernatural and herself in relation to it) has a wraith as the motw, which is the monster of the episode where Dean and Sam told the truth about themselves and their job to be admitted in the mental hospital. (Dean also hallucinated a psychiatrist he technically opened up to, and 13x04 has a grief counselor. Lol. Stab me.)

I know I've already written specifically about Dabb's episodes and their meta meanings to understand his showrunning and it's fantabulous but jeez... once I've finished my season 1 Sam grief rewatch I'm starting on a Dabb/Bobo episodes only rewatch.

Honestly these days Dabb is so fanfic he'll be writing Dean pulling his pants down in front of Cas and yelling "honey!" ;)

His episodes are logical, well written, character focused and fit with the long standing subtextual storytelling of Sam and Dean's personalities that the antis refuse to acknowledge.

They have a (generally positive) character driven message that is important to the narrative rather than being a brainless motw ep that has a toxic message ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

An episode where the boys aren't together all the time? Where the whole episode is where one goes to do something and the other goes to do something else? Like 12x22 but for a full episode? They aren't codependent but work healthily and separately to win?

Of course the rest of the season is gonna be back to form with them together, of COURSE this doesn't mean the end of "Sam and Dean". But it does mean they don't have to rely on each other 100% of the time anymore and can be their own people TOO.

Goodbye toxic negative unhealthy codependency.
