can’t criticize plastic surgery as an institution because it’s none of your business if a woman wants to “fix” her insecurities. can’t criticize the makeup industry or beauty standards because some women feel good when they shave and wear makeup. can’t bring up the challenges women face in the workplace because some women want to be stay at home wives instead of working. everything a woman does is automatically feminist and we shouldn’t stop to think about the context surrounding her actions because that would be misogynistic. here’s what i had for girl dinner. according to my girl math the barbie movie was a revolutionary piece of feminist media. i may not show it but i feel the life slowly draining from me day by day.
INTERNAL BRA PLASTIC SURGERY???
TFYM THEY DRILL IT INTO YOUR RIBS??
LEAVE WOMEN ALONE
If you click the twitter link you'll see a naked example and difference between breast that has the internal bra and the one that doesn't and I'm hating how stiff and uncomfortable the operated breast looks like I'm crying leave the female body alone for fuck sakes they always market it to women that have kids too as if they haven't gone through enough they're like NO YOUR BODY BELONGS TO THE GAZE YOU MUST FIX IT
"According to recent analysis from News1, sales of cosmetics, hair products and other beauty-related apparel by Korean women in their 20s has dramatically declined between 2015/2016 and 2017/2018.
Plastic surgery — another common playground for young South Koreans — has declined by 64.4 billion won."
Cosmetic sales have gone down by 53.5 billion Korean won in that period.
funny how they never realize how men would NEVER do the procedures they list. maybe because these cosmetic surgeries target vulnerable women and are products of an oppressive patriarchy🤔
so which is it? is transgenderism natural and has always existed, or is it — like botox and breast augmentation — a product of sexist oppression?
This is why all women need to work on self love🥲this shit runs so deep
This is so fucking horrifying.
hello kitty would never get a buccal fat removal
idk how to explain to people that it’s not internalized misogyny to expect women to do some of the work of unlearning patriarchal values. you can’t just wait for the patriarchy to topple before you begin questioning and pushing against those misogynistic ideas that have been fed to you since you were born because nothing changes if you DON’T question them. it’s extremely naive and unproductive to get mad at people for “calling out women instead of the patriarchy that made them think that :(“ when women have to actually begin critically engaging with what they’ve learned from the patriarchy to unlearn it. you aren’t a helpless victim who must contour and get lip injections and tell teenage girls to look hot for them until suddenly we have full equality and the patriarchy magically gets rid of itself. it just seems like some women don’t want to do the hard and messy work of having to critically engage with themselves and the self the patriarchy expects of them and it’s easier to just blame society and not get uncomfortable.
How are you going to write a whole (excellent) book complaining about the treatment of female doctors and your experiences, and then use ~empowerment~ rhetoric to encourage women to get fillers so you can literally profit from their insecurities?
This is such a manipulative take and misogynistic cope with not making it onto the formal training program as a plastic surgeon. If you’re going to stick fillers into women, be honest with yourself about it.
[ID: Five cropped screenshots of tiktok captions. From left to right, and then top to bottom, they say, (1) "When they tell you you're too young for Botox and you don't need it," (2) "All your haters saying how bad it is to do Botox in your 20's," (3) "when people say to just accept aging and let it happen and that trying to mitigate the process with Botox and filler is something that patriarchy instilled upon us," (4) "me telling my patients to start Botox before the wrinkle forms so you never get wrinkles in the first place," and finally, (5) "when they say you're too young to get Botox and filler and you should just age gracefully" /end ID]
these are all from the same user. we have to start killing cosmetic surgeons im so serious
Hate how cosmetic surgery is literally just inventing a problem and then making you pay exorbitant amounts of money to fix it
Like there's nothing "wrong", inherently, with your face or body. Asymmetry, larger/smaller features, small asses and flat hips. None of these things are flaws or defects that need to be fixed. They're literally just natural ways for you to exist and you don't need to find ways to neuter your own features in an attempt to fit in to a hyper idealised social media body, through make up or surgery or obsessive exercising. Like think about who this benefits bc it is definitely not you
If I, (an Indian woman) bleached my skin and said it was for self-empowerment, you would point out that regardless of intent my actions perpetuate colorism and racism.
If you agree with this statement, then you can understand how women getting plastic surgery, wearing makeup, and removing body hair in the name of self-empowerment perpetuates misogyny.
If your empowerment makes your oppressors happy it ceases to be empowerment. The rebranding of dehumanising, expenisve and painful sacrifices made at the alter of femininity as female empowerment was truly the greatest trick ever pulled in history.
glad to see youtubers with hundreds of thousands of subscribers talk about this!!
If it’s humiliating for a man to do then it’s humiliating for a woman to do, you’re just used to women being humiliated
There's a movie called "I Am Not an Easy Man" that was making the rounds on radblr recently. The plot is essentially that an average french man hits his head and wakes up in a world where women inhabit the male gender role and vice-versa. At first, he is outwardly angry at his treatment as an oppressed man but eventually begins to conform so that he can survive. I was struck by how ridiculous the men looked fully waxed, in revealing "dress-shorts", obsessing over their weight and penis shape and facial structure, constantly styled to appeal to a female gaze. It was funny at first until I realized that is how women look to men. Every time they see us decorated for their enjoyment they are reminded of their power over us, that we will humiliate ourselves because we have little choice otherwise.
