It gives me a terrible queasy tar pit in my stomach to think about the fact that I know myself to be capable of enacting and even enjoying extraordinary violence, I know with total certainty that I am capable of deeply delighting in inflicting torture and terror and despair onto a male until he's prepared and eager to beg for the gift of freedom through death... and the fact that I really truly DON'T believe in men's humanity, and that I hate men with the entirety of every single microscopic molecule that I consist of, and despite all of this, despite being capable of committing acts of extreme cruelty toward males with a genuine smile and not a milligram of hesitation or remorse, I realized watching this that I cannot even begin to wrap my head around the things men do to innocent women and girls. I know with every fibre of my being that I am capable of immense evil and having fun being sickeningly creative with it, and that I deeply despise males enough to have no qualms whatsoever about taking the lives of utterly random ones, and yet I still don't hate men for how they treat us even a fraction of a percent as much as they hate women and girls just for being female. Of all those things I am capable of doing and even want to do to men because I very genuinely believe they deserve it and are irredeemable, not one of these even exists in the same universe of comparison as the things men will completely casually do to innocent little girls. The most cruel and depraved things my imagination can come up with (and my imagination is pretty creative) don't even begin to touch the things a perfectly average man is willing to do to an innocent child who dared to be born female. I have EVERY reason to despise men far more than they despise us, and yet all I feel compelled to do is neutralize the threat posed to my sisters as much as possible. Just think about the implications of that for a minute.

Someone posted something about this to Pinterest and all the comments are women going “no that’s not what love languages were made for it’s supposed to tell you how your partner shows love even if it isn’t the same as you!” And only one person on there was saying “this was the original purpose and they reprinted the book with different text because the first one was so blatantly misogynistic propaganda”

Avatar

Surprised there aren’t more husbands twisting the love language discourse to ‘acts of service is how I like to receive love’ (be my house servant) but I prefer to show love physically (rejecting me sexually is showing me you don’t love me)’

can i be real i think we need to take “men are affected by patriarchy too” and put it on a shelf high up until we can firmly establish that women are still very oppressed. because right now that talking point is being used strictly to silence and/or deflect discussion on misogyny and im so sick of hearing about it that it’s making me into an insane person

“standing on women’s necks hurts men’s feet” is such a phenomenal way to phrase this whole argument

Feminism is not about liberating women from the female body. The female body is not shameful. And it exists, whether we can name it or not. Saying we can’t have a name for female humans because it reduces us is just saying our bodies themselves are limiting. We can have full awareness and language for the reality of our sex and still know that it doesn’t mean anything about our worth as people or what we need to do with life. The patriarchy’s interpretation of the female body- as shameful and dirty, as a sexual object nonetheless, as meant only for motherhood and servitude- does not mean the female body itself is inferior. Saying feminists need to deny the female body to help women, is accepting the idea that femaleness is inferior. It is accepting the idea that naming ourselves and our reality means something about us as people. Women do not need to liberate ourselves from the awareness of our bodies, we need to liberate ourselves from the world’s perceptions of our bodies.

If men hadn't oppressed, restricted, raped and enslaved women for the last 5000 years all the ugly, short, balding in their 20s men would have died out by now and I'll never forgive them for that

This actually isn't even a joke, men entirely distorted the path of human evolution by restricting women's sexual selection, and not just about looks either but important internal characteristics as well

A Sydney teacher who was jailed for secretly filming up the skirts of students at his north shore school has had his sentence overturned on appeal, after a judge agreed his mental health conditions including a voyeuristic disorder could be better treated in the community.
Eric Wong, 29, was jailed in July for at least six months after he took 90 videos and 300 photos of students in his class at Cammeraygal High School in Crows Nest over a period of two years. He had pleaded guilty in Hornsby Local Court to two charges of filming a person’s private parts without consent.
On Thursday, his barrister Peter Givorshner told Downing Centre District Court that the sentencing magistrate should have taken Wong’s autism spectrum disorder and voyeurism disorder into account, both of which affected his moral culpability.
Givorshner said the magistrate made an error and was possibly overcome with disgust and revulsion when saying that Wong must have known his conduct was “completely inappropriate”. He said people with autism were “wired differently”.
The barrister said voyeurism disorder could be treated in the community, while autism could not be treated. He said his client had already experienced “intense media coverage”, public shaming, a loss of his career and future prospects, and 29 days in custody.
Judge John North said Wong’s “unusual and abhorrent behaviour” breached the trust of a large number of young women in his care.
“He was their teacher; this was a gross abuse of trust, and it is indeed a serious matter,” North said. “There are a large number of people who should have been safe in the protective care of their teacher who were anything but safe.”
North said sentencing Wong was difficult and required taking into account the seriousness of the offence as well as Wong’s subjective case, including evidence of remorse, a strong family background, and a prior good character.
“The effect on his life has been profound,” the judge said. “He’s lost his job, of course, will never be able to return to it. His relationship of four years ended.
North said Wong would not be able to access appropriate treatment for his voyeurism disorder in custody, so the safety of the community would be better served by an Intensive Correction Order, a form of jail sentence served in the community, rather than a short period of custody.
“It’s not an easy thing, but I’ve come to the conclusion that the matter can be dealt with by way of an ICO – but only because of the time already spent in jail and the mental health issues that remain unresolved and which clearly need attention,” North said.
The judge imposed a two-year Intensive Correction Order, which requires Wong to be of good behaviour and accept treatment deemed appropriate by Community Corrections.
The Herald previously reported that Wong was caught by a 16-year-old female student when the girl bumped into a whiteboard and dislodged a hidden phone in Wong’s classroom.
A police search of Wong’s home revealed hundreds of videos and photographs on a computer and storage device of girls in school uniform in his classroom, including images up their skirts and of their breast area.

Your honor, my client shouldn’t be held accountable for the murder he committed. You see he has what we call “murder disorder,” it’s where he gets off sexually to killing people. Because of this we just can’t force him to face consequences for all these murders he’s committed. Ignore the fact that he knew enough about right from wrong to graduate college, get hired, and have a successful career for several years, and he also knew to hide the evidence of all the murders and got caught on accident. He just really, really shouldn’t go to jail cause he doesn’t know any better. His girlfriend’s already broken up with him and everything :( :(

He spent 6 months in prison before being released. 6 months x 30 days = 180 days. He had 300 photos and 90 videos of his students.

He spent half a day in jail per video/photo.

It’s technically better than we see a lot of people get but. Imagine being his student and finding out that taking a video of your childhood body would land your teacher in prison for half a day. That’s how much that non-consensual video of your body was worth. Your dignity, your self-esteem, is worth half a day of a man’s freedom.

CSNSW’s website says that ICOs are not to be available for any offenders who are convicted of sexual offences against children. Gotta look into the legislation more throughly, but it’s wild that filming a person’s private parts without consent, when those people are children, doesn’t seem to count as a sexual offence against children? Perhaps that’s an incorrect interpretation and there’s some exception or ability for sentencing judges to use discretion in the legislation.

Every time I see people crow about how wealthy white women will be protected and helped out by their powerful fathers and husbands even when abortion (and of late, interstate travel to access abortion care in other states) is illegal, I feel compelled to point out that after Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, the daughter of a wealthy, well-connected Republican man, accused Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault, her own father shook the hand of Kavanaugh's father at their shared golf club and congratulated him on his son's confirmation to the Supreme Court.

Men whose lifeblood is preserving the patriarchy don't entertain exceptions, even for their daughters and wives. At the end of the day, they don't see women as people, even those they purport to love, and consider them at best, accessories and at worst, problems to be handled.

lol @ the insinuation that men “turn to” the patriarchy as if it’s a weed strain rather than a violent system of oppression created to make women second-class citizens

men created it, it benefits them, they don’t commit unspeakable acts every second of every day because they’re “lonely and alienated” they do it because they want to and the systems they created allow them to with no consequences

The people who act like the patriarchy isn't just describing how men have positioned themselves in a hierarchy above women in society makes me want to pull my hair out. You do know all oppressive systems are describing two groups of individuals right? Every man is an oppressor because they all benefit from this oppressive system. There is no way to be a man removed from the system or just as hurt by the patriarchy because the patriarchy is just describing how men benefit by subjugating women. No way to be a member of the class benefiting from an oppressive structure and be removed from or equitably harmed by that structure. This is the basic foundational theory of oppressive structures. If you can't understand this you need to fucking shut up

The gendered expectation that men may not enjoy that is expected out of them does not come with equivalent consequences as women, first off. Secondly, the gendered expectations that are imposed upon them are in most cases highly positive. Traits that put you and keep you in positions of power. Gendered expectations for men are to uplift them, not to subjugate them, so it is not anywhere near equivalent of the gender subjugation of women. Shut the fuck up, you fucking morons.

one thing that i think mainstream feminism does not address nearly enough is the impact of patriarchal religion. in the US, for example, many girls grow up being EXPLICITLY TAUGHT that women were created to be subservient to men and that their destiny in life is to be submissive to their husband as if he were god. this is not a rare experience.

It makes me so mad that everyone automatically assumes that women should just hand over their resources and spaces as if it's no big deal. "what are trans women supposed to do, they are not safe in the men's changing room", well and women are not safe when anyone who claims to be a woman can enter their changing rooms? Why do you think women should simply smile and nod and sacrifice their needs? I know this isn't some new insight I just had this discussion with someone and it was so baffling how little he even thought of it as a conflict of interests, obviously the needs of trans women trump everything else.

Regardless of gender identity, the female people are seen as the servant class. We create space for ourselves? Surely it’s just to practice so we can make it bigger and let everyone in eventually. Taking care of ourselves? Of course, you need to take care of yourself to be able to care for others!

Our safety, comfort and wants are never seen as anything but a step towards something more relevant. If we stop at our well-being and enjoyment, the fabric of the patriarchy starts to break. Remember our place. Never be selfish. The male god whipped us up as an afterthought to serve his greatest creation.

The cult being referred to here is the Children of God. The “Father David” who these comics are attributed to is David Berg, the cult’s founder and leader. Unfortunately these comics are fairly tame; the cult did not just promote marriage between children, it also strongly encouraged sexual relationships between adults and children and produced media (including photos and videos of real children) to further that aim.

Berg’s granddaughter, Faith Jones, escaped the cult as a young woman and is now a human rights lawyer (having schooled herself independently from childhood because, as you can imagine, breeding cults don’t care if their followers can read).

Her memoir, Sex Cult Nun, is a fascinating look into grooming tactics and indoctrination, as well as an example of how much courage and conscience it takes to break out of a cult.

i read an article about a gay man who's suing the human rights tribunal of ontario because his insurance won't cover the treatment for his surrogate. the nerve of some people. renting a womb isn't a freaking human right.

In Australia, it’s being framed as ‘discrimination’ that people who use IVF for surrogacy don’t get the same IVF rebate from the government that people using IVF to bear their own children receive.

Surrogacy is being normalised with constant articles about celebrities who are too posh to carry their own children, and now that household names have made it seem relatable, surrogacy is being framed as a human right that only homophobes and anti-choice conservatives could possibly have an issue with.

The problem is only going to get worse with the increasing prevalence of fertility problems within the population, we aren’t getting out of the patriarchy.
