she married, had a child with, and defends a man who both murdered someone AND attempted to rape a teenage girl at knifepoint.

she paid her brother’s bail after he was arrested for repeatedly raping his stepdaughter, starting when she was just 11 years old. Nicki also took and shared pictures with him while he was out on bail. it’s alleged she paid for his legal team and, when he was convicted, she wrote the judge a letter asking for leniency. her brother was found guilty and is serving 25 to life.

she has made two songs with and aggressively promoted tekashi 6ix9ine after he appeared, as an adult, in child porn.

she has consistently supported and collaborated with known abuser chris brown and alleged predator drake.

she appeared on Lil Twist’s song, “Old Enough,” which is about having sex with a minor. Lil Twist was sixteen at the time and Nicki rapped these lines:

Nicki Minaj’s brother Jelani Maraj reportedly charged with raping a child

Jelani Maraj, 37-year-old brother to Nicki Minaj, was charged with rape and released on bail Thursday, according to Newsday. Per the outlet, Maraj’s crime is rape in the first degree and first-degree counts of sexual conduct against a child. The paper reported the victim’s age but the district attorney’s office would neither confirm or deny.

I feel like people are trying to make Nicki minaj feminist so they can listen to music that says bitches and other slurs without feeling bad. It’s okay to admit your music is ~problematic~ guys, stop trying to turn it feminist when it’s quite the opposite.

Nicki minaj does not need to be bell hooks to be a feminist while there are white women out here putting glitter on their armpits and selling peachy coloured vagina pins on etsy and calling it feminist. And it’s about time (white) people stopped criticising black female musicians for tainting feminism when white women are even worse and a lot of us refuse to even accept feminism.

I don’t really care what race someone is, if they use slurs, they use slurs. She isn’t tainting feminism, I just don’t see her as a feminist. I don’t try to pretend black metal is feminist just because I like that kind of music. She is not above criticism.

This is kind of racist like you should see her race because it’s a very important aspect of her and her music and black feminists are allowed to have different feminism to white feminists so um this is awkward

Are you black…? Can you explain to me why it’s okay for a black woman to use slurs?

I'm not black I'm white but as a general rule it's safe for us to not criticise how black women do their own feminism, we still have a considerable amount of institutional power over black women and like.. It's pretty easy to just celebrate them rather than criticise them. The whole thing with slurs and black women just..doesn't resonate with me well when I see the shit they go through like for some white women the only oppression they notice is slurs and slurs are bad and harmful. But it's not getting shot in he street and having your family murdered. And at the end of the day, women are still allowed to reclaim slurs, I'm still allowed to say bitch (I'd never say it negatively to another woman tho) and I'm not going to stop just bc it's a negative word. That's how reclaiming slurs works idk this is very complex I just think we need to stop criticising black rappers esp the women. It's really not that hard to shut up about it you know?

Someone please save me from feminists who would address other women as bitches, but in a "positive" way, or want to reclaim the term. I thought we agreed re: SlutWalks that it doesn't work.

Sounds like liberal feminist empowerfulized rhetoric, embodies liberal feminist empowerfulized rhetoric, yet isn't  liberal feminist empowerfulized rhetoric? Because it's Bey doing it? Right, noted. And here I was under the impression that the radical feminist line of reasoning was that it's in no way empowering to make men's dicks hard. In the meantime I'll go with bell hooks' argument that takes into account the social context surrounding us (you know, like radical feminists are supposed to be doing if we're to pride ourselves on our ~*~critical thinking~*~ skills?) without further confusing the issue if you don't mind. 

Also take into consideration that both Beyonce and Nicki Minaj are in incredibly powerful positions within the music industry as women and performers. If Janelle Monae could choose to project an image that isn't self-objectifying, then so could they.
