Yesterday I had been feeling so horribly depressed furious and irritable all day that I saw no possible relief for the bottomless pit of existential agony within me. Then I went into the kitchen, poured all that remained of a one pound box of pasta into a pot (over half, around five servings) cooked it, dumped mozzarella cheese over it, and sitting at my desk ate nearly all of it in the span of 15 minutes, finishing what was left a short half-hour later. I felt almost immediately restored and so sleepy that I dozed off at 9:45 pm before getting up around 10:30 to brush my teeth

I think potentially there is something to be understood from this

When you hate everyone: eat something

When you think everyone hates you: go to sleep

When you hate yourself: take a shower

i feel like it's absolutely crucial in the social justice world to take "he a little confused but he got the spirit" and similar sentiments/situations as a Win. intent is so much more important than saying it right the first time! if someone is approaching with scuffed language and incorrect terms but they're visibly being as polite as they know how, that person is a friend and should be treated better than what their words might invite in someone else's mouth.

Last time I drove through the Rockies in November we had a wind warning in Wyoming of about 50 mph wind gusts, so lightweight, high-profile vehicles had to stay off the highway. I was chugging along on the last leg of my drive before I stopped for the night when I started getting battered to hell by gusts just after dark and I was like these are NOT 50 mph anymore. I knew I needed to pull off but the last exit was like 40 miles behind me with no way to turn back whatsoever so I kept going, looking for any pulloff. An interstate sign said gusts were 90 mph now and the highway was closed. I finally found an exit to a dirt road onto some ranch. Definitely not ideal or safe to be on someone's random ranch, but I assumed they'd had it happen before. I parked my car in a ditch and the wind rocked my shit all night but honestly it was super cozy like a cradle!! I always have food & water & good camping gear so I just snoozed til sunlight & when I woke up, a bunch of other people were parked around me. I got out and saw this storm on the horizon

I said nah, I'm headed back the way I came for the night. I started moving and everyone else got up and followed me and I ended up the unofficial leader of a caravan on dirt & mud roads for nearly two hours. I saw a several herds of pronghorn, which was super cool. Finally made it to a tiny town just as it started to snow, with a single motel and I got a room and as the lady handed me the key she very sternly said, "NO cleaning fish allowed in the rooms. the scales do NOT come out." Which was a very Wyoming rule to have to set verbally to guests.

most difficult part of this entire trip was the one gas station in town was selling t shirts of course and i didn't have much money so i had to choose between the wild horses, the wolf shirt, and the cougar.
