Arrowverse ‘19-20 inter-show wishlist
Since we’re not getting Legends of Tomorrow until January 2020, I think this is a great opportunity for the franchise to take advantage of a lack of scheduling issues and have cameos and inter-show interactions with the Legends as the focal points. It’s easy to forget that these shows share a common mythos and timeline, often going entire seasons without much more than unspoken nods in addition to the annual crossover. Legends doesn’t let us forget it, but the other shows tend to keep to themselves, for better or worse.
- A Flash episode that requires the group to go to Heyworld, potentially talking with Charlie or Nate about magical creatures.
- Kara and John Constantine interacting at all.
- Ray appearing at STAR Labs and helping the other brainiacs figure out some scientific conundrum.
- Sara showing up on Arrow again.
- A Legend in Star City 2040. Maybe Behrad or Zari, in their natural time.
- Gary and/or Nate and/or Ava addressing all the temporal issues surrounding Barry and his family.
- Mona and/or Charlie helping apprehend/contain/help a magical creature in current day Star City.
- Video chats with any of the Legends from STAR Labs or the Bunker.
- Kara taking a vacation and coming to an Earth filled with magical creatures.
- Related to above: Kara realizing how dangerous a unicorn is.
- In fact, let’s just have a magical outing with the Supergirl crew. Brainy and Nia around creatures of legend? Yes, please.
- Nia being a Rebecca Silver fan.
- Citizen Steel and the ATOM helping out with a game of Catch the Meta on Flash.
- Basically, find an excuse to use these actors. They’re important, and this extended hiatus can help solidify the multi-show feel.
If you’d like to make a tier list like this, you can!
You can rename, add, and delete rows as you need.
I’d love to see how others stack up!
Jesus fuck. Where do we go from here for 10 whole episodes?
The Arrowverse doesn’t feel fanficcy enough
There, I said it.
Hot Take on the Arrowverse
The DC CW shows have forgotten what they are.
I enjoy them at a baseline level, and I’ll continue to support them. I love the characters. I enjoy shipping them. I enjoy being a fan.
But these shows aren’t superhero shows anymore, and it’s starting to wear on me.
At some point, the Flash started focusing more on family morals than taking out the bad guy, as evidenced by the fact that the not-so-exciting Cicada has eluded them for 15 episodes. There have been multiple times throughout the season that Barry should have been able to take him out, but they have continued to postpone the obvious progression for the family-centric one.
Arrow’s gone baby crazy, which is the furthest thing possible from superheroing. Considering the show’s ending, I’m not as critical of this season - they’re setting up some kind of ending for next season, and while I don’t particularly enjoy the flash forwards or the Smoak-Queen focus, I trust they’ll end the show well.
Supergirl has gone straight teenaged angst. Gone are the lighthearted sisterly moments, instead filled with subterfuge from those Kara loves. J’onn can’t figure out if he’s a man of peace or not, straining my already thin tolerance of the overacting involved with the character. Brainy and Nia are two sides of the same coin and don’t combine to create an interesting whole. Political overtones are bearing ridiculous violent interpretations on the audience. It is a far cry from what the show was originally.
I haven’t been keeping up with Black Lightning, and I intent on binging it once the season ends like I did with season 1. I’ve heard good things, but the ratings are not good.
The only show I’m still excited for is Legends of Tomorrow, because it knows what it is - a silly show about misfits dealing with magical maladies, and I don’t expect them to change the equation for the sake of drama.
The worst part about all this? I was *super excited* about every show at the start of the season. I thought Arrow and Legends had outstanding season premieres, and Supergirl and Flash were right on their heels. But the moment they hit their stride, three of these shows collapsed in on themselves. I have no idea how it happened.
I’m pretty disappointed with the overall direction of these shows. I really hope the rest of the current seasons can pull off some miracles to get me excited about them again.
Me: Oh shit, Arrow’s ending. I guess it’s about time, huh? I’m not sad. It’s a good time to go.
Stephen Amell on Facebook: *doesn’t even make it 1 minute into his Facebook announcement without choking up*
Me:
Someone please. Please tell me how this is a good idea.
When Barry tries to tell Team Flash he's been dating Oliver Queen, they don't believe him. Oliver takes the opportunity to have a little fun with them, until a nasty team up leaves Barry in critical condition.
Ship: Olivarry (Barry Allen/Oliver Queen) Rating: Teen (for implied violence and injury) Words: 1,785 Status: One-Shot/Complete Tags: Whump fic, one-shot, Secret Relationship
they are doing everything right with Nia this season!! I love her!! the kind of trans rep I’d like to see 💙💙
I’ve seen some confusion circulating about “how could her sister say something like that” and things of that nature, but evidently Nicole sat down with the script writers to make sure that the scenes were handled powerfully, accurately, and sensitively. That is the trans representation we need.
ARROWVERSE PSA
The character you stan has flaws. I promise. Please stop treating them like they don’t. If they didn’t have flaws, they wouldn’t be interesting or worth rooting for.
On a similar note, if your character is a second version of an original character (I’m looking at you, Black Siren), learn to fucking separate iterations of your character. There will be differences and that’s okay. And wanting your new version of the character to wind up just like the original is not truly rooting for that character. If Black Siren’s end goal is to “be like old Laurel,” that is a boring, predetermined outcome. Redemption is one thing, but turning her into someone she isn’t is something entirely different. Stop projecting your love for E-1 Laurel onto E-2 Laurel. They’re not. The same. Person.
And while we’re at it, can we PLEASE STOP blaming characters we don’t stan for the “downfall of the show?” I don’t care if you hate Felicity, René, Laurel, Dinah, Lyla, Diggle, Curtis, Oliver, William, Diaz - it doesn’t matter. One character is incapable of destroying a show as successful as one in the Arrowverse by themselves. This has been a plague in the Arrow fandom (and later on, the Flash fandom) since the beginning, and I’m fucking tired of it. Felicity didn’t ruin the show. Damien Dahrk didn’t ruin the show. The show hasn’t been ruined. If those characters had ruined the show, it would have been canceled long ago.
Get the fuck over your biases. Your bias’s shit smells just as bad as everyone else’s, and has just as much of an opportunity to gunk up the pipes as the next character’s. It’s okay if you like the smell of your bias’s shit more, but at least remember it does smell.
