“Master? Master!” Gary’s voice ricocheted down the hall over the sound of his shoes slapping the ground as he launched himself across the decadent foyer and into the overly large dining area of Constantine’s chateau. He stopped abruptly, jerking his head left and right in search of his mentor, before barreling into the kitchen.

John sat at the island with an unlit cigarette in his mouth, eyes on a newspaper in front of him. It’d be a cold day in Hell before John Constantine moved to electronic media to pass the time. As Gary came streaking into view, John’s eyes lazily rose to meet him. The cigarette shifted position as he considered the disheveled man before him.

“Gary, what did we say about running in the house?”

“Sorry, Master-”

“And cut it out with the ‘Master’ stuff, would ya? It’s great when the Legends are here - makes ‘em remember who’s in charge around here - but I’m not your master and you’re not some damned apprentice.”

Gary swallowed hard, his glasses still slightly askew. “Uh, right. Well, I could use a master’s touch about now.”

The warlock sighed. “What did you do?”

Gary cleared his throat and fiddled with his fingers. He was nervous. Embarrassed. It was adorable. “I let loose a shade upstairs. It, uh, brought a friend.”

He was no longer cute.

Constangreen. "Never met a girl as pretty as you."

(In which Gary is a drag queen and can this please happen on the show?)

“Never met a girl as pretty as you.”

Gary whirled around, but relaxed as soon as he saw John. “What are you doing here? I thought Sara told you to scout the audience.”

“Eh, decided to switch with Rory on watching the backstage,” John replied as he leaned against the wall of the stage. “You’ve been hiding this on me, sunshine. Does Raymond look as good?”

Gary smirked. “He passes. I had to give him a hand. First drag show’s the hardest.”

“Oh, Gary, I sense there’s a story there.”

“Maybe,” he shrugged. “But on stage, it’s Barb. Barb Mitzvah.”

The Floor is Lava (Legends of Tomorrow)

Called by Nate or Ray

This game is only ever called by Nate or Ray, and only whenever they are in the same room.

If Nate calls it, he leaps into Ray’s arms to be safe, kicking and screaming until they’re on furniture somewhere. If Ray calls it, he leaps into Nate’s.

If Sara feels like playing, there may be some back handsprings onto a chair or table. Or maybe she just sits in an armchair with her legs splayed over one side.

Mick grumbles about how “I’ll give you lava.” If Amaya is around, he’ll climb up onto something, but he won’t be happy about it.

Gary climbs onto the nearest object or person - once, it was Mick. That probably won’t happen again.

Ava doesn’t play along. In public. Sometimes Sara can get her to play when it’s just the two of them.

Amaya wasn’t sure what the point of the game was until she saw Nate and Ray jumping from chair to chair with big grins on their faces as they came to sit next to her. Since, she has jumped up onto whatever she can find with an excited shout.

Zari is the first one up off the floor, no matter where she is. She’s only used her totem to survive maybe twice. Ok, three times.

Constantine takes a swig of whatever he’s got in his hand at the time and mock-cries about how much pain he’s in, then collapses onto the nearest chair, not playing anymore.

Charlie rolls her eyes until she sees Nate and Ray jumping around and having a good time, then usually joins in with some overly loud hoots and hollers.

The Legends React to Constangreen

Ava: This is a terrible, horrible idea.
Mick: *shrug*
Mona: Aw, Gare-bear, that's so cute! Does he have to smoke around you, though?
Ray: That's amazing! Way to go, buddies!
Sara: I'm just waiting for Gary's suit to get singed somehow.
Zari: I don't ship it, but it's sweet.
Nate: Good for Gary. He needed this. (No, seriously. He really did. Constantine needs to stick around.)
Nora: Aw, the geek gets the smoking drunk. How...romantic? I think that's the word. We'll go with that.

Zari: You okay? You've been limping around all week.
Constantine: You would, too, luv.
Zari: From what?
Gary: Good morning, Legends! Gotta run!
Constantine: same time tonight, mate?
Gary: Sure! :D
Zari:
Zari: do I even wanna know?
Constantine: Oh you bet you do.
Constantine: Gimme a sec, though. In a lot of pain right now.
Constantine: So worth it.

Legends Mid-season Finale Theory

Well, more like “what happens wit Constantine in the second half of the season” theory.

We now know that John was involved with Desmond around the time he and Gary got to know each other (~6-7 months ago puts us at the beginning of summer, near the end of last season). Gary told us early on in season 4 that Constantine “broke it off” with him, and now we can see why - the man is clearly still grieving the loss of a loved one, and isn’t ready for that kind of relationship.

Gary moved on to having a crush on Mona, who - thanks to Nate (don’t ever change, you big lug) - is now courting the Kaupe. Once Gary realizes this, he’ll probably be forced to move on again, which probably won’t happen until around the time in the season that the team deals with Constantine’s stuff.

I don’t see Desmond getting out of hell. Constantine’s kinda cursed like that.

So my theory is that Gary and John will kind of find each other again and be the healing factor to each other’s stress from the season. I know John’s not a romantic/love-heals-your-wounds kind of guy, but being with someone in a mutual time of need has a way of breaking the rules across the spectrum.

Here’s hoping I know what I’m talking about, because it’s about time we had some male gay representation in the Arrowverse (I’m looking at you, Arrow writers. Stop ignoring Curtis.).

A/n: I was absolutely living for the fact that we had some m/m fan service this week. We’ve had one - one - other instance of that across four shows and 7 years.

Hi, so unpopular opinion but I don't care for Mona. I'd like her a lot more if she had even a slightly different personality but she's basically just Girl Gary. I love Gary but the show doesn't need two of him. I'm also worried for him since he's pretty expendable now that there's a member of the time beurau with the same personality but with a specific skill that Gary doesn't have. I don't see why he couldn't have been the creatures expert though. Any thoughts?

Mona’s personality is certainly very strong and she does fit the lovable idiot bill like Gary, but I like to think that they fulfill the same role with different takes: Gary is someone who just tries so hard and fails spectacularly to the point of charm or annoyance, while Mona is someone who is so intent on being friends that you can’t help but either love her or find her irritating.

Gary is still more well-versed in time travel than Mona, and is well aware of both the regulations and the dangers procuring the refugees has, but knows little about the creatures individually. Mona knows about the dangers of the creatures themselves, but isn’t trained or capable of assisting directly. I think Mona being placed in the past would be a terrible idea - Gary, at least, understands the value of being discreet. I don’t think Mona’s read that book, yet.

Plus, there’s also the whole Mona/Gary thing they hinted at, so it’s possible that the two of them become two sides of the same coin anyway - one at the Bureau with the creatures, and one with the Legends in the field. Who knows what they’re planning at this point.

As far as not liking Mona, I’m still waiting to pass judgment until we’ve got more of her under our belts. She’s only been important in one episode thus far, and it’s hard to truly judge how good a character is on such limited screen time. At least, fairly. Her first impressions don’t sit very well with me, though, because I find those in-your-face-let’s-be-friends-plzkthx characters a bit irritating.

Thanks for your question!

Hot take on 4x05

I know they dismissed Constangreen, and I ship it too, but can we please stop the negativity about the possible ending of this ship (we were given closure in episode 3, in a way) and start being hyped for Mona/Gary? Because as soon as she learns to stop calling him Mr. Green, I feel like this is gonna be an adorable, healthy relationship. Yeet.

No.

I’ll happily accept any healthy relationship Gary gets in the end, and Gary with Mona will be adorable as hell, but I cannot in good conscience disregard what happened to Constangreen, in canon, on such an openly representative show. They built up the anticipation and humor surrounding the coupling, and then dropped a “he said it’s over, so it’s over,” off-camera “break up.” It wasn’t closure, it was dismissal. It was erasure of a m/m potential relationship, when we haven’t had a main character m/m relationship in the entirety of the Arrowverse (and no, Curtis doesn’t count - his man has been in three or four scenes over the course of a year).

So don’t say we need to “stop the negativity,” because this was actually queerbaiting, by definition.

And you can totally support a relationship while disapproving of what happened to another, involving the same characters.

hot take but i literally refuse to believe they only used constangreen for a few episodes and now im expected to believe its over bc johns whiney ass says so???

i really do hope they do more w the dynamic bc its so fucking fun and wonderful to watch and i really do hope it evolves into an actual on-screen relationship that we can see develop in future episodes

Out of all the shows I watch, I never expected to be queerbaited by Legends. For them to turn Gary from pining over John in one episode into a romantic interest for Mona in literally *the next episode* is a slap to the face of anyone who was hoping for a m/m relationship ever on screen.

It doesn’t change my opinions about Gary or the show, and I certainly don’t hate Mona for it, but it does make me wonder why the writers decided to force Mona in the way they have.
