Charlie Cox as Charlie in Brooklyn ‘09
Hey look! It’s Charlie Cox with some @Daredevil @OriginalFunko Pops!! (x)
Elden Henson on the scene he’s most excited for fans to see in Season 2
As an actor, whenever there’s any sort of emotion to bring to a scene, whether it’s deep sadness or excitement or hatred or anger, I really find that you only ever find that emotion from the other person. You only get it out of them. When you can’t look at them in the eye and you can’t engage with them from that place, it’s very hard to draw it out and I’m sure it’s hard for the other actor as well to get it from you. – Charlie Cox
As a British actor, I have many friends who have played superheroes. I’m friends with Andrew Garfield who played Spider-Man and Tom Hiddleston who was in Thor. I watched them go do those films and was jealous and so envious of the great time they were having, you know? They would go to work and it was the best fun ever. I didn’t think that I would get that opportunity. I jumped at it. I was so excited. – Charlie Cox (x)
“ [on shooting the hallway fight scene] The first half of the day was just the camera movement, just the camera going back and forth, making sure we got all the angles and where it’s supposed to be. You know, it’s very very tricky because every single hit has to sell on camera. If one is missed, the whole shot doesn’t work. I think we did twelve takes, three of them were usable and one of them was fantastic […] It was wild! Because the way that we did it… you know I walk in and then I go in the door and quickly hide, and [the stunt double] continues and he comes out. And I run around the back of the set and I come in and do a little bit and then I’m out another way. And then he goes in, and I come back out with the kid. It was pretty spectacular.” (x)
My idea was just to remove the superhero element entirely and just to play a guy who’s willing to take a hell of beating over and over and over again. Daredevil was known as “The Man Without Fear” and I just thought, “well, I don’t think that’s very interesting.” I don’t think it’s very interesting to watch someone who’s incapable of feeling fear. It also removes from the palate my favorite character attribute, which is courage. If you’re not afraid you can’t exercise courage. So I thought maybe he’s a man with great fear, but despite that fear he chooses every day to attempt to do something about it, and as a consequence he is labelled “The Man Without Fear” by the people who see what he does, rather than what he feels. —— Showrunner Steven DeKnight said you had a unique take on the character when you auditioned — how did you initially envision Matt?
“They have something going on at some point in the comics!”
