(OK, so please everyone bare with me, I’m on Mobile so I cannot make a read more.)
So, as per my first theory on Yellow Diamond being unable to have shattered Pink, Via some key lines in ‘What’s the use of feeling, Blue?’ I have some new evidence supporting my theory in light of the recent Steven universe episodes!! You can read the first theory on my blog, just type in su theory and it should be he second or third one that pops up!
As we all know, the dream Stevonnie had was a mix between Stevens odd gem connection powers, and Connie’s home sickness. I saw Connie’s home sickness, as I’m very certain that this is Connie’s first time away from home for so long, coupled with the fact that neither of them are sure even how to get home.
Anyways, in the dream we see Connie’s mother portrayed as Yellow Diamond, and Stevonnie them self as Pink Diamond. Now, it caught me off guard, as I’m sure it did for most people, to even have that sudden shift from it being a ‘regular’ dream, to sudden Gem hybrid. Though, as the dream progressed, it posed some amazing points on the interactions between Yellow and Pink.
Mainly being the dynamic of, Yellow being an experienced Leader, and Pink being a brat of sorts. We see Pink demanding an army and planet, and while this most certainly annoys Yellow, she doesn’t exactly react in the way we have seen her react to others disrespecting her
Examples
And the time that Peri calls her a clod, and she makes the Diamond Communicator explode.
When Yellow Diamond is enraged or annoyed, she literally makes her problems or whatever is causing them, go away.
Twice we see her just become almost like a scolding mother to Pink Diamond. Once when she is mostly Connie’s mother, telling her rather sweetly
“Honey, please, give me a moment.”
Now, this could be just because she is more Connie’s mother, than she is Yellow Diamond, but no more than a few seconds later when Stevonnie starts talking to her again, she rebuffs with
“Oh. You’re still here.”
Revealing that maybe she really did speak to Pink Diamond with those same words.
Now, it does get a little trickier, as when Pink continues to insist upon bugging Yellow, and eventually makes Yellow outright pissed, she doesn’t react the way that she normally would have, or at least in the way we have seen her do before.
Instead of poofing Pink, or becoming enraged and kicking her out completely, Yellow grabs her to keep her from the panel, and just sort of surrenders Pinks arm when she pulls away.
Pink obviously rebuffs, and becomes quite the angry little Diamond, but Yellow takes it relatively in stride, Scolding Pink to start acting as important as she claims she is, but doesn’t do more than that!
Yellow sees Pink as an equal. An angry, annoying, tiny equal, but an equal none the less. She cares enough for Pink to try and set her on the right path of Leadership, explaining to the, seemingly, younger Diamond that she will get everything she asks for in due time.
And, furthermore, decides to give Pink her space when she storms off in a huff. Sure, it could be taken as she’s just let Pink go do her thing to get her out of her hair, but its clear that Yellow has taken Pink along with her to the Jungle Moon, to show her the ropes and hopefully get Pink to start behaving as a proper Diamond.
Yellow cares a lot for Pink, she treats her like a younger sister, looking out for her and teaching her new things. Its clear from the way she acts in Jungle Moon, and in What’s the use of feeling, that she is more than heart broken about Pink being shattered.
She is heartbroken that someone she cared enough about was lost to her. Its clear that she wants to get rid of every reminder of Pink, to be free of her heartbreak and guilt, but even she can’t get rid of things that Pink loved.
The number one example is the Zoo
Its very clear that Yellow will do anything to get her way, and by any means. Though, oddly enough, when it comes to things that have to do with Pink, she hesitates. Blue Diamond wanting the Zoo to stay is not enough to deter Yellow from wanting it gone. Its the fact that she cannot let go herself that it stays where it is.
Like seriously, if Yellow was completely wanting to rid herself of the Zoo, it would have been gone a long long time ago.
Yellow Diamond wants to keep things around to remind herself of what she’s lost, even if she doesn’t realize it consciously. She misses Pink ever so dearly, but refuses to admit it out loud, or to anyone.
Even if Pink was a brat, the dynamic between them was something that Yellow Diamond treasured, and now that its gone, she doesn’t understand how to help herself to fix the hole it left. She doesn’t know how to let go of the past.
And maybe, she doesn’t really want to.
