Masquerade ball
This is my initial entry to Lyra's 1k follower/Halloween event taking place through @blackclover-emc
I welcome interactions to this post~!
Entry length ~1.1k Pairing: Fuegoleon x Solara (OC) Summary of entry: Just some flirting on the way to the ballroom Picture: From pinterest Art (at the end): My own
Sun was setting behind the horizon, which painted the sky in various hues of red and purple that turned into the blue that would eventually become the canvas of the night sky. Eventually this canvas would bring out the lights of the castle out far better than they were now, in this dim light of autumn dusk. The light that was illuminated by the chandeliers and candelabras; the sea of candles in the hallways and the staircases, even before they way lead to the ballroom itself; the place where the Halloween ball would take place.
Nacht and Josele, looking like the black night sky and a blue shimmer of starlight, walked the floor of the ballroom, arm-in-arm.
"Is there anything you'd like to do before the morning sun steals you away for the first dance, my star?" The night sky asked his accompanying starlight. His pale blue eyes pierced the darkness of the pitch black mask on his face as he gazed at his wife.
"Is it too much to ask that I just admire the atmosphere for a bit? After all, the organizers clearly put a lot of work into the presentation," the star replied as she took a glance around the expansive room.
"Alright then, a stroll around the perimeter it is."
"Snrk! You make it sound like we're on a patrol, my shadow prince."
Still, Nacht led Josele along with the tenderness he felt she deserved. Brown eyes, peering through the blue mask placed over them, took in the autumn oranges and reds that made the space feel warm and alive. The hanging webs and skulls placed about also gave a playful sense of fright and death to the event.
A dazzling gold paired with a rich navy caught Josele's eye. Even with the elaborate outfits, mystifying masks, and all around atmosphere of mystery that came with the masquerade ball, Josele recognized her friends instantly. With a little tug on Nacht's arm, they slowly worked through the crowd until they were within arm's reach of their friends.
"It looks like I've found a radiant sun in this evening venue," Josele remarked while touching a hand to her heart. Violet and green eyes turned to the Faust couple.
A smile played on the lips of the blond woman and she answered, "Am I truly out of place though? My color does match the fall leaves and the golden decor here."
"But then..." the vermillion-haired man beside the blond interjected, "Isn't the point of a masquerade that you try not not stand out while still enjoying a chance to... not be someone else and yet not be entirely yourself?"
"Well spoken."
"I guess so!" Josele laughed.
"How has the evening been for you two so far?" Fuegoleon asked, glancing towards the room that spread out in front of them.
"We only arrived a few minutes ago and we've only walked around a little. Admiring the mood," answered Josele. "You're actually the first people we've mingled with."
"That feels like a small honor." Solara giggled behind her hand. "But don't forget that other people might want a bit of time from a mysteriously charming couple as yourselves."
"Trust me, I can feel eyes on me alright," Nacht muttered, a bit bashful and a bit bothered by having more than the usual amount of attention on his person. "But it's... different."
"Less judgement and more curiosity?" Fuegoleon pressed. Nacht mutely nodded in answer.
"Though I wonder..." Solara leaned towards Josele and gazed over the crowd. "Any other mystery person feeling familiar to you or your ki sense?"
Josele pursed her lips and slowly surveyed the people.
“ Hm, I think I may’ve found a few,” Josele replied with a small smile as her eyes landed on a couple that had just walked into the ballroom.
Zera Cassia and her husband, Captain William Vangeance, had both just walked into the ballroom.
As Zera was looking around she had to admit it did not take her look until her gaze landed on her friends Helena and Nozel. Even among the masquerade costumes and ballgowns they managed to stick out and nobody would even think to mistake them for anyone else. They did not get the memo of trying to stay anonymous. On the contrary the giant feathers that Helena had attached to her mask just screamed Silva House and Nozel’s mercury one besides covering only half of his face was made out of mercury.
Nobles would step to the side after short greetings with the lady of the House and her silent partner, who only spared them a nod.
Then Zera’s eyes met with those of her friend. Helena perked up right away and curtsied at a noble she was interacting with at the moment. Pulling her husband behind her she quickly made her way towards the group.
“Hola everyone! Splendid party, or at least the first fifteen minutes of it,” Helena flashed them a smile. Nozel just nodded in greeting standing behind his wife.
“It was rather refreshing to do something other than work,” Solara smirked knowingly at her husband, who responded with a similar expression. His eyes lovingly cascading over her features.
“Events such as this one can still be considered work,” Nozel stated. “We should present ourselves with utmost grace and sophistication-“
“Which we are doing splendidly, mi amor,” Helena interrupted him not allowing Nozel to dampen the mood, “while having fun.”
“Fun is always welcome,” Zera giggled. “I’m enjoying it so far.”
“So far we’ve only been in each other’s presence,” Nacht pointed out.
“And I don’t see why that has to end,” Josele added.
“If anything we can mingle with others and then meet up for a breather,” Helena smiled.
“As if you get tired of interacting with nobility,” William placed his hand on his wife’s waist and puller her closer.
“You’re right I don’t,” she grinned. “I’m naturally charming and a people person, but this one does,” Helena nudged her husband playfully to which he responded with a too well practiced eye roll. “At some point the resting bitch face gets to the point when everyone is too scared to approach us.”
“A moment of silence,” Nacht said. “Intimidation comes in handy.”
“There are moments it’s useful and moments it’s not,” Fuegoleon commented. “A ball should be one where it’s not needed.”
“Unless you want to clear the floor,” Zera flashed them a smile.
“Unless you want to clear the floor to show off your amazing spouse,” Fuegoleon added once again gazing at his wife.
“Speaking of dancing the dance floor seems rather empty so far,” William said.
“Would you like to change that?” Zera nudged him playfully.
“Maybe in a moment,” he responded.
“The breather is nice,” Josele commented.
“And we can continue scanning the ballroom,” Solara said.
And she immediately discovered another familiar figure. Not because she was too recognizable like Helena and Nozel, nor was it because of her beautiful lavender hair falling like a waterfall on her back. It also wasn't because of the familiar white teddy bear with the pink bow.
Lavendel Neuschwanstein, the new queen of Diamond, was easy to recognize because she was so wonderfully adorable.
"I wonder who that is," Lavendel spoke out loud while looking towards the other side of the room where a man in a green suit was talking to a woman in a purple gown.
Despite trying to appear discrete, there was ... something about them that made one's attention draw to them. Or then perhaps it was simply the colour of the dress that stood out to Lavendel; perhaps a kindred spirit of a kind.
