Scorpius didn’t get angry often, he really didn’t. He was normally able to keep a cool head. But sometimes Albus intentionally did things to set him off, and it always worked.
Today, Albus decided that it would be funny if he hid Scorpius’s favorite book. For most people, this wouldn’t really be a big deal. It would probably just result in a “hey, have you seen it?”, but not with Scorpius. Scorpius would search frantically for it, and of course accuse Albus of taking it.
It was hardly even a hiding spot, Albus just put it in the drawer of his nightstand, but it was enough to ensure that Scorpius would go wild when it wasn’t in its designated spot.
Albus waited in anticipation for when Scorpius entered the room, and when he did, he could hardly conceal the grin on his face.
Scorpius set his things down on his bed and inspected the area, immediately noticing that something was amiss. What Albus hadn’t been expecting was that Scorpius had already had an awful day.
“Albus…” he nearly growled.
“Yes, my sweet and adorable boyfriend?”
Scorpius huffed and whipped around to look at him.
“Where is my book?”
“I have no idea what you’re-”
“Shut up! Just give it to me!”
“But I don’t have it, dear.”
“I know you do! I’m not in the mood for your childish games right now.”
“Do you really think that lowly of me? As if I would steal one of your favorite possessions,” Albus tsked at him.
“Albus Severus Potter you give me my bloody book right now! I’ve already had an awful day, and I’ve been looking forward to coming up here and reading it in some peace and quiet, but no, you just had to go ruin it!”
Albus put his hands up in defense.
“Alright, here, I’m sorry.” He opened the drawer and pulled the book out to hand it to Scorpius, who gently took it from his hands.
“Thank you,” he mumbled and turned around so Albus couldn’t see his face.
“Hey,” Albus said and went to stand in front of him. “What’s going on? Why did you have a bad day?”
Scorpius sighed and shrugged.
“People are just annoying.”
Albus chuckled and leaned in to kiss Scorpius’s cheek.
“That is a very good point, love.”
Scorpius smiled.
“I’m sorry for yelling.”
“It’s okay. I kind of liked it. You’re so cute when you’re angry.”
“Oh shut up,” Scorpius laughed and gently hit Albus’s shoulder. “Do you want to read with me?” He asked as an afterthought.
Albus grinned and pulled Scorpius onto his bed and into his lap before kissing the crown of his head.
“I would love to.”

I like to imagine that Scorpius will continue to mock Albus about the ‘new smokey eyed potions professor’ until the end of time (possibly even once he and Albus are dating). Every time Albus gets a good mark in a potions test, or wins some points from her for Slytherin, Scorpius leans across and grins and nudges him in the ribs.
‘You’re winning her round, Albus.’ ‘Did you see that smile?’ ‘True love is blossoming before my very eyes.’
One time he even hums a bit of ‘love is in the air’ in Albus’s ear, and Albus elbows him so hard he falls off his stool.
Then, one day in sixth year, when the boys have been together for a few months, the following exchange happens:
‘Albus, she smiled at you. Did you see? I think she’s falling in lurve with you, Albus. Every ‘O’ you get is a step closer to marital bliss.‘
Albus slaps his ladle onto the table and turns to face Scorpius. 'I’m dating you, you idiot. I’m literally dating you. We’re going to Hogsmeade together tomorrow, and you’re still trying to set me up with her. What’s wrong with you?’

- 6th year Albus and Scorpius exploring their sexuality with each other.
- Clumsily touching lips, noses bumping, hushed apologies from behind Albus’s bed curtains despite a silencing spell already being cast because deep down they were so worried that what they were doing was wrong.
- Continuing this for several weeks as they grow more and more comfortable with each other.
- Stealing quick kisses in abandoned corridors, exchanging looks in the library, loving the rush they get when they hear footsteps walk past their empty dorm.
- Rose finally accepting Scorpius’ date invitation after years of asking.
- Scorpius saying yes without a thought, and telling Albus without a care in the world.
- Albus’s heart dropping in his chest as Scorpius tells him the “wonderful news.”
- ”You were wrong Albus. You really were just a game to him. Don’t be heartbroken; you should have seen it coming.”
- Going on only two (uneventful) dates with Rose before him beginning to miss Albus’s lips against his own, wanting to feel his arms wrapped around his waist again.
- “He doesn’t miss you, Scorpius. You’re meant to be with Rose, a girl. You were just fooling around. That’s what teenagers do, right?”
- Albus and Scorpius relaxing by the fireplace together one winter night and getting a bit too playful.
- Scorpius pinning Albus to the soft carpet and hovering above him for a moment before instinctively leaning in.
- Albus completely freezing up at first, not being able to help but notice how beautifully the glow of the fire captured all of Scorpius’s features.
- His heart beating faster as their lips finally touch, sending a large chill down his spine.
- Their kiss becoming more and more heated, Scorpius’s mouth beginning to kiss along Albus’s jawline.
- A soft “I love you” slipping past his lips as they parted from his skin briefly.
- Albus shoving him off half-heartedly and trying to look past the hurt in his eyes.
- “You don’t mean that. You’re straight and in love with my cousin.”
- Scorpius still lightly panting, lips pink and hair messy, raising his eyebrow and shaking his head in disagreement.
- Him finally admitting, “I was scared to love you, but I know now. I can’t stand being without you.”
- Albus’s cheeks glowing Weasley-red, the tint being illuminated even more by the warm glow of the first place.
- Him pressing a shy kiss onto the boy’s cheek before whispering:
“I love you too.”
