The team behind last year's hit series Kiseki: Dear to Me is bringing us a new original show, See Your Love, which is being jointly produced by Taiwan and Japan. It will tell the story of Zi Xiang (played by Lin Yu), a third-generation rich kid who runs away from taking over the family business and accidentally falls for Shao Peng (played by Kim Yun), a hard-of-hearing caretaker.
The story is inspired by director Chiang Ping Chen's interactions with his hard-of-hearing uncle since childhood. He shared, "Even though my uncle lost his hearing, he believed even more firmly than many that to love means not giving up easily."
Screenwriter/producer Lin Pei Yu said, "This time, we tried for a change in perspective, not being able to hear is not about losing one's hearing, rather, it's about learning to communicate through a different language. We hope that through See Your Love, we'll be able to show that love is not limited in form and meaning. Additionally, we hope to contribute, however little, to the promotion of Deaf culture."
To get into his role, Kim Yun immersed himself in silence as much as possible and took intensive sign language classes with Lin Yu. "Sign language is a completely new language to me. Some words I could picture through association, but some of the others I need to double down and memorize them. Getting the hang of it is no simple feat," said Kim Yun.
