I keep saying that the recent rise in fascism in the last 4 years (accelerated thanks to the pandemic and a lot of people falling into anti-vax conspiracy pipelines) is more or less a direct repeat of the rise of fascism in the 1920s after WW1 and the Spanish flu outbreaks in 1918-1919

Fascism feeds on fear and disaster, but it also provides special protections and exceptions for the wealthy elite willing to buy into such policies and tow the line - even if it means sacrificing less privileged people as a consequence.

And much like the 1920s, a time at which the working class were fighting for better rights, the class divide between the rich and everyone else was worsening, the economy was down the drain (lead up to the great depression), a world war and a pandemic at the same time had ravaged numerous countries and killed tens of millions of innocent souls, and politics were highly unstable, we are seeing the exact same thing here in 2024.

The working class fighting for better and more rights, massive class divide between the rich and everyone else, the cost of living crisis, 2 major wars (Ukraine/Russia and Israel/all its neighbours) which have killed countless innocents, COVID-19, and highly unstable politics across the world - some of which fascism has already dug its claws into (Italy - literally ruled by the descendant of Mussolini, Israel, Russia, half of Germany based on the last election iirc, Hungary, America, France, Slovakia, Finland, Croatia, Czech Republic etc)

The signs are there, and those who know are screaming that we're headed down the same path, but nobody is fucking listening and the nutcases in power are dragging us all down with them.

So yeah, needless to say, learning history is like being an Oracle of Delphi :) You can see into the future based on what has already occurred and what it led to.
