i feel like the reason everyone makes fun of trans men & men-adjacents is because the face of the trans male community is an upper middle class white boy, but that doesn’t excuse the way that people relentlessly mock “kai he/they”s and like, Basic trans boys. or infantilize them. like there’s joking about common coincidences between trans men and then there’s literaly transphobic stereotyping that erases trans men of color from the conversation. what im trying to get at is if youre cis stop making jokes about how every trans guy has a galaxy binder and is named skyler and plays ukelele and is a softboy because 1) those things arent even bad, 2) the trans men you have come into contact with are majority white and they are not the only people in our community, and 3) its not your fucking place to joke about trans people.

cis people can reblog but dont add on

trans guy 1: dude how did you grow an adam's apple
trans guy 2: sheer force of will

this was from my freshman year of college, shortly after I came out, when someone sent me to hang out with these two (somehwat) older trans guys to show me that it was gonna be okay

one of them told me about how he got his gender marker changed before it was technically allowed. what he did was he waited until he grew a beard, and then he walked into the dmv and pointed at the f on his liscense and said "there's been a mistake" and they were like "oh sorry about that sir"

one thing i WISH we were told as young trans men and transmasc people when trying to pass as cis men irl is that, unless youre good at doing it very very subtly and youre using it very sparingly, face makeup will not masculinize you. the reason is if youre wearing makeup, people in real life can tell youre wearing makeup. its visible in the texture it leaves on your skin, and its especially visible because most ‘masculinizing’ makeup is heavy contour, which is quite obvious in real life! and if people can tell youre wearing makeup, thats a point towards reading you as a woman, because its assumed that makeup is worn by women.

its possible people will be able to tell youre trying to look more masc, and it might make them clock you as trans, but its very unlikely to help you pass as a cis man. a lot of the tips youll find for this kind of makeup is from people who are NOT trying to genuinely pass as cis men - cosplayers or drag kings, for example. this is because their makeup is used as a costume, or its meant for photos. this kind of makeup will work well in pictures and if you just want to take more masc selfies and stuff its a good idea. in real life its probably not going to help unless youre making it very subtle.

disclaimer again that this is for if youre trying to be read as a cis man. if that kind of makeup makes you feel good about yourself or alleviates dysphoria or is a way you express your gender, awesome! but if youre using it because youre expecting specific results wrt your passing and how youre read in real life, just be aware that its unlikely to yield the results youre looking for.

the tips that i found were actually useful when i was pre-t were using eyeshadow to deepen to eyebags or give you more sunken eyes (again, subtly - its not as obvious as contour!), using mascara on your eyebrows as well as on the hair on your temples if you have any (sparingly, and trying to avoid clumps, which are also visible), and maybe a light amount of contouring under the jaw (which is not obvious and does not attract attention like face contouring does).

Shinjuku Boys (1995). Tatsu, a transgender man, jokes with his barber about his changing appearance, and his newly masculine features.

TRANSCRIPT:
BARBER: So you go regularly to the hospital for your hormone injection? TATSU: [nods] BARBER: Does it hurt? TATSU: Not at all. BARBER: You have more facial hair. It must be the hormones. You’ll get a moustache soon. TATSU: I’ll look distinguished! They’ve made quite the difference. I never thought I’d change so much. Most customers say I’m like a man. BARBER: Really? TATSU: [laughing] They say, “You look like a man. You’re not cute.” BARBER: [laughs]
END TRANSCRIPT.

Transgender people who have access to gender-affirming surgery report better mental health outcomes, according to a new study.

The report, published Wednesday in JAMA Surgery, compared the psychological distress levels, suicide risk and substance use in trans and gender-diverse people who had undergone gender-affirming surgery with those who wanted such procedures but had not yet had them.

The researchers found that subjects who had not received the surgical interventions they desired were nearly twice as likely to report severe psychological distress and suicidal thoughts, and reported higher incidences of binge drinking and tobacco use, as well.

I made a Lavender Boy Flag which refers to mlm/gnc men! This also includes masc aligned non-binary people ofc!

I did NOT coin this term. This term dates back to the 1920s to refer to effeminate men and mlm men. I saw other mlm talking about reclaiming this term and wanted to propose a flag for it. I think it’s also a good alternative for people who consider themselves feminine boys but don’t wanna use f/mboy because of its connotations. Lavender Boy comes off super romantic and poetic to me so I really enjoy it and I hope others will want to reclaim it too! You’re more than welcomed to use this flag for icons, banners, edits, etc. though I would appreciate credit it is not needed!

Do not interact if: Exclusionist, Truscum, TERF, SWERF, anti-mogai, etc.

I’m a Lavender Boy 💜

I’m writing a poem and need examples of things people have said in response to your sexuality or gender. Stuff like “I can fix you” or “you’re too young to know” or “you cant like both”
