So, Disney is coming out with a live action Snow White...

I'm not really going to comment on that, tbh. I haven't really watched or read up on anything concerning this live action take on the story and character. BUT, I do want to take a moment to shout out my favorite live action version of Snow White.

It's the version of this character from the Hallmark mini-series "The 10th Kingdom." In this version we get a grown, adult Snow White who takes on a Fairy Godmother/protector role of the MC, Virginia. The message she gives to Virginia is so moving and empowering. It has stuck with me for ages - ever since I was a child.

The series and this scene highlights the character's warmth and kindness, but there is more there too. She provides guidance and aid - her role is protective and more in the background, but still very proactive.

This is such a beautiful scene and "The 10th Kingdom" is such an amazing mini-series that takes these fairytales (mainly the Grimm versions of them) and really brings them to life in a realistic and tangible way. If you've never watched "The 10th Kingdom," please do! The world building and character writing in it is fantastic, while the mix of CGI and practical effects is cheesy and charming in all of the right ways!

Broke: Wolf didn’t say anything when Virginia told him she loved him because he was feeling guilty and conflicted about the future “betrayal”.

Woke: Wolf didn’t say anything when Virginia confessed to him because he spent his whole life being seen as a monster by everyone, he’s only learned like 3 weeks ago that being in love and being hungry were not, in fact the same feeling, he’s never been in a relationship before, and he’s already messed things up with Virginia once. Dude just had no idea how to react to being told he was loved for the first time in his life, and he also was probably afraid of saying the wrong thing and ruining the moment.

me: yeah I don't think a 10th Kingdom sequel would be a good thing actually. The vibes would be too different, the original cast is too old, I just don't see how it could work.

me after seeing all the lore Simon Moore wrote about this universe, all his ideas for a second season, how he regularly interacts with fans thanking them for the love they show this series, and seeing Scott Cohen, now 60 years old, talking excitedly about a Wolf centric season 2 where he's king of the 2nd kingdom and he has a child with Virginia: s-sequel when. give it to me. give the sequel to me now.

The 10th Kingdom is for fairytale fans, people with taste, and people with really messed up relationships with their mothers.
