Peter Quill: You seemed pretty casual about me returning from space like it was no big deal

Grandpa Quill: Please, compared to the other stuff that’s happened on Earth these past few years, you returning from space is nothing

Peter: Oh yeah, I guess after the snap anything’s normal

Grandpa: You better believe it. Did you know they added Captain America’s shield to the Statue of Liberty?

Peter: That’s unexpected but it’s not too weird

Grandpa: A witch placed a whole town in New Jersey under some spell and mind-controlled them into acting in her sitcom

Peter: Okay that’s fucked up

Grandpa: One day the sky turned back 2000 years

Peter: This is NOT normal

Grandpa: There’s an entire race of humans that live and breathe underwater

Peter: Please stop

Grandpa: Werewolves and vampires are real, always have been apparently

Peter: Is this what a midlife crisis feels like?

Grandpa: Oh, don’t forget djinn, they’re out there too

Peter: I’m just gonna stop listening

Grandpa: A newborn Celestial emerged from the ocean and got immediately petrified, then another Celestial showed up a few days later, it was larger than the entire planet

Peter: Alright that’s it, we’re moving to another planet right now

Grandpa: Oh and rumor has it the entire multiverse is in danger of falling apart, we’re not safe anywhere

Peter: FUCK!

Gunn said the first movie was about the mother, the second about the father and the third about the self. And if I think about it, all characters finally come to terms to who they really are or want to be:

[SPOILERS]

• Mantis goes her own way, after following what Ego wanted and then what the Guardians wanted for all these years;

• Drax, that called himself the 'destroyer', finds his place as a 'father', even after his daughter's death;

• Groot: now that he is an adult again, it's pretty clear to us that he's phisically and mentally different from the GOTG1!Groot. He respects and supports everyone's choices in his family and makes us part of it too at the end (→ now we understand him too);

• Nebula, now free from Thanos, is now a leader and helps kids in need like she was as a child, following what she and Gamora talked about at the end of vol 2;

• Gamora learns why her 2018!self found a family between the Guardians, but feels she's different and chooses another path in the end;

• Rocket "ain't no one like me but me" accepts he's not alone in the world anymore and deserves to keep on living. Also, he calls himself "racoon" for the first time without it being a offense for him;

• Peter, always away from his planet, faces his fears and comes back to the Earth, where he lost his mother, and meets his granddad.

I don't like all the choices Gunn made in this movie (about Gamora's arc for example), but GOTG3 made me cry and laught and cry again and I'm happy we finally got to see the ending of this beautiful trilogy.

Darcy shifted restlessly in the plush chair, looking around uncomfortably as she watched the crew hurry in and out of the deck of the ship, speaking urgently with one another and scurrying like panicked mice. She had been told by the captain to stay put after she’d asked one too many curious questions, like a misbehaving child placed on a time-out, and she didn’t bother hiding her scowl.

She hated intergalactic travel. The Bifrost was all well and good, like a sort of super portal between Earth and Asgard, but nobody had bothered to tell her that it was sort of reserved for important occasions, like for diplomatic visits or to send soldiers off to war. And so Darcy was introduced to the wonder – read, sheer monotony – that was space travel. After the first few days of wonder, everything settled into a repeated routine of canned rations, endless card games, and listening to her playlists on repeat as she stared at the ceiling above her bunk.

Of course, with Jane as Thor’s new bride-to-be, Darcy’s role as intern was misconstrued as a handmaiden, or some kind of lady-in-waiting, and she found herself in the awkward position of being some kind of freaking noblewoman, at least on Asgard. On earth she was still plain old Darcy Lewis, the poli-sci major who finally graduated, but up in Asgard she had to sit around with all those other court ladies and pretend to be some highborn lady in the midst of some pretty heavy drama. It was like some immortal, Aesir version of Mean Girls, only queen bee Frigga wasn’t an evil bitch and Jane was a badass that conformed to nobody’s standards.
