Derek doesn’t think Scott should make a deal with Stiles the sea witch in the first place. When Scott can’t hold up his end of the bargain, he’s doomed to spend eternity in Stiles’ watery hell-soaked lair. Derek can’t stand to see his best friend taken and he’s got an eternity to spare…

When Stiles accompanies Scott on a trip to his uncle’s beach house, he gets more than he bargained for after running into a pack of mermaids with a particularly attractive leader…

Scott leaves Stiles alone for something like five minutes and Stiles is attacked by a shark, nearly drowns and discovers merpeople because of course he would.

There’s a sea creature stealing all of Derek’s stuff. For some reason he finds that more endearing than annoying.

Stiles is a mermaid, Derek is a werewolf, and they’ve been best friends for years. Stiles is in love with Lydia, and Derek… accepts it, and shoves his own affection for Stiles down deep. Until one day when Stiles makes a surprising announcement, and leaves Derek to deal with a lot of emotional turmoil.

Derek finds out that mermaids are just as real as werewolves when he’s 8 and meets Stiles. He finds out Disney lied when he’s 16 and falls in love with Stiles’ stupid laugh but realizes real life has so many complications that Disney never prepared him for. Now, at 24, Derek has accepted the fact that he can never be with Stiles. That is, of course, when Stiles decides he is tired of waiting for Derek to make the first move and throws a monkey wrench in all of Derek’s carefully made plans.

“I’ve been wanting to do this again for four years.” Stiles sighed into him. “Me too.” Derek stared at him.

• Aculei >> Sarcasm (at least, I typed ‘sarcasm’ in and this word came up, along with ‘barb’ and ‘sting’. I’m not sure how accurate this is, but let’s pretend it’s correct)
• Narcissi >> Plural of narcissus, the group of flowers daffodils belong to, the flower associated with Stiles in the fic. I don’t like the link this has to the word ‘narcissism’, but I was running out of ideas so just went with it haha

• Arc Doré >> Gilded Bow
• Cœur de Lion >> Lionheart (I imagine Victoria would have been the First Lady, until she died and the title went to Kate, moving Allison from Third to Second)
• Fossire >> A combination of ‘fossette’ (dimple) and ‘sourire’ (smile)
• Charou >> A combination of ‘chasseuse’ (hunter) and ‘loup garou’ (werewolf). I used this name as the newly bestowed title, because it feels like now she’s of age, Kate and Gerard would intend to bring her into the fold in spite of Chris who would have argued to keep her out of it all up to this point.

It isn’t fair that Stiles needs to work Christmas, when his dad is on the other side of the country. Or that his really hot, next door neighbour is around for the holidays as well. Or that there’s a power outage that makes things even worse. Or better.

Derek’s neighbor is singing Christmas carols in the backyard at 2 a.m. Derek’s going to kill him.

She seemed fascinated with Derek’s beard, eyes widening further under incredibly thick lashes as she petted Derek’s cheek some more, smoothing down the short stubble. Finally she grinned widely. “Good wuff.”

Derek jerked upright, hands clenching on the edge of his seat. Did she just say?…

“CJ!” The child was suddenly gone, lifted up by a strong, tattooed forearm around her little potbelly. “You scared the he— heck out of me! What have I told you about wandering — Derek?”

One hundred days, ten scarves, one Christmas, and Stiles’ dormant magic has to ruin everything.

There are no more chapters. 22 is the last one. Derek groans in despair. He has to know what happens.

Ever since he was eight years old, Stiles had been running. Fate decided it was time to stop.

Derek is the Uber driver who always seems to be up when Stiles needs a ride home from work.

There aren’t really words for this. “Sure, dude. Let’s hang out sometime and bond over the fact that our lives suck and we’ve both basically killed a bunch of people by accident” doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue.

In a coffee shop two days before Christmas, Derek meets Stiles. Despite neither of them being interested in relationships, they spend an unforgettable evening together, but then part ways. During the following years, Stiles competes in the Olympics, Derek tours the world - and neither of them forget. Then twelve years later, two days before Christmas, Derek finds Stiles in that same coffee shop.

“Yo,” Scott said, eyes wide. “Was that Derek in your room?”

Stiles groaned and smacked his forehead, mostly because Scott was too far away to smack and he didn’t really need a broken hand from punching the wall on top of everything.

Stiles is trapped for the holidays in the cabin of a strange man/hermit named Derek. A strangely friendly wolf befriends Stiles during his stay. It’s up to the teenager to find out why Derek has secluded himself from society, what the feelings he’s beginning to have means, and what the connection between the mysterious man and the mysterious black wolf is.

Stiles grew up with his bedroom window overlooking Derek’s bedroom, so when he returns home for the holidays he’s surprised to find a stranger in his nerdy neighbour’s bedroom.

Only, he’s not much of a stranger.

It is Derek Hale, the guy who is going to be his new step brother, if the rumours are true.

Where Derek buys a secluded cabin halfway up a mountain, meets a yeti and falls in love with Stiles, but not necessarily in that order.
