In my canon compliant timeline I have furiosa finding and living at the oasis for two years before becoming a mechanic and living off rat meat and the water from the oasis. So, imagine her becoming the first cryptid of the citadel. Sometimes guards in the night catch a glimpse of glowing eyes, of a feral gremlin child eating a rat raw and they just turn tail and flee before telling their friends the story. And thus the legend of the gremlin child is born
