The episode where Data leaves Spot with Worf should have had a scene where Worf comes into Data's quarters, replicates Spot's dinner, feeds him and turns to go... then turns back, looks at Spot for a moment with his jaw clenched, and finally growls, "You are a pretty cat and a good cat" before leaving.
