As a post with Di Feisheng with a fan has appeared again, here is the fic I wrote last year about it.

Summary:
Fang Duobing arrives at the beach more out of desperation rather than any real desire to see Li Lianhua and Di Feisheng fight each other.
How could Li Lianhua even fight now? Unless somehow after he’d run off he’d performed some astounding feat of healing that would finally make his title of Miracle Doctor accurate. It’s a fragile hope that he clings to, unwilling to abandon it while there is even the slightest chance it might be true.
(Yes, this is entirely based off those couple of images (which don't appear in anything aired for the show) of Fang Duobing and Di Feisheng on the beach, where Di Feisheng is carrying a fan instead of his sword. )

the biggest mystery in mysterious lotus casebook is the lotus tower sleeping arrangements
The answer to this lies in a deleted scene in the script set after Di Feisheng and Fang Duobing nearly wreck Lotus Tower by fighting in it and Ge Pan almost manages to escape in the aftermath.
LI LIANHUA (quickly standing between the two of them): It's late and we've caught the miscreant, it's time to sleep.
LI LIANHUA (to FANG DUOBING, in a pacifying tone): The second floor is yours, have a good rest.
LI LIANHUA (grabbing DI FEISHENG and dragging him along as he says this): You sleep with me! FANG DUOBING is delighted at first, but sees that LI LIANHUA has already dragged DI FEISHENG back to his room, leaving him to guard GE PAN alone, and suddenly feels a nameless sadness at being excluded.
FANG DUOBING (muttering unhappily): Why do I feel like they're together, and I'm an outsider...

With thanks to the good folks of the dihua discord server for helpful advice on what birds to use (magpies, specifically, the electric blue ones found around Taiwan), I present the final version of my episode 39 reaction painting. This was done on cold press paper, because it had been long enough since the last time I did that that I'd forgotten how challenging it is to do clean linework on it.
This is more or less entirely watercolor - a bit of colored pencil in the skin for details, and a bit of white ink throughout where needed. Slowly I will work out how to paint light (and skin) in watercolor, the two main areas I'm currently trying to improve on, but overall, I am quite pleased by how this came out.
Finally here is part 8 - well half of part 8 anyway. it's still 5700 words, the other half which I'm still writing is about another 5500 words.

Summary:
Canon divergent AU from part way though episode 38.
Li Lianhua doesn't manange to escape from where he is being held, so he is unable to rescue Di Feisheng. Fearing what Jiao Liqiao might be doing to him, Di Feisheng decides on a desperate course of action to try to save them both.

So! I haven't abandoned my MXTX major arcana project - but I did fall face first into Mysterious Lotus Casebook feelings, so to get back into the swing of wip posting, I bring you: my episode 38 reaction, in watercolor painting form. You know, eventually.
Day 2 - gonna try to finish the inking. Straight lines on cold press paper are very challenging, so wish me luck there.
Getting started on the underpainting. I will likely come to regret using cerulean for the skin, but we'll see.

Summary:
After returning to the Lotus Tower following the events at Mountains Red, Di Feisheng finds himself feeling more and more unsettled by what happened there. The women held there, how they were people who wouldn’t be missed. The cruel master with guards controlled and beholden to him even if they did not wish to do his bidding. Even Murong Yao, how he’d come to take vengeance, how he’d wanted it to be over, rather than to take power and continue the cycle of oppression. They all play into memories that he no longer has access to, yet still manage set his nerves on edge.
Unable to rest, a late night practice with his sword brings with it a brief flash of the past - a shared, intimate past with Li Lianhua.

Alright, so! I haven't been posting any art recently because I've been working on this piece for the @dihuaexchange. I was overjoyed to find that my assigned recipient was @la-muerta, who has written several of my favorite fics in this fandom. Among the prompts offered was "happy endings" and "dihua living their best life together", and since I personally have a major soft spot for Di Feisheng feeling safe enough to actually relax/sleep in Li Lianhua's presence, here we are.
Drawn here with pear blossoms both because they complemented the spring palate I was going for, and because I was emotionally compromised when I was linked to meta remarking on the incident when Li Lianhua trapped Di Feisheng in the "pear blossom array of love-longing" that one time, given that pear blossoms symbolize a love willing to wait a lifetime, and also the pain of being parted from your love. Anyway.
