Hey everyone! I am going on a HUGE trip soon so I want to try and scrape up as much extra cash as I can, and one of the best ways to do that is with my art! So, commissions! I’m sticking strictly to mermaids and my mandala like pieces because they are quick and easy for me to get down in a short period of time. All payments accepted through PayPal, if there is some alternate form of payment you would like to work out we can discuss it. I do work traditionally so the original piece will be mailed to you, but if for whatever reason you only want a digital file just let me know and we can knock 5$ off the total cost! Mermaids (example, example, example) Ink no background - 15$ Ink with background - 20$ Coloured - 20$ Coloured with background - 25$ Mandalas (example, example) Full page coloured - 20$ Single mandala coloured - 15$ Full page ink - 15$ Single mandala ink - 10$ For whichever type of image you choose you can make specific requests to the colours you would like used! A Capricorn with a lot of creative liberties taken. Available here as a magnet.
Have I mentioned before that this artist is fucking amazing? Bri is fucking amazing. What she does with details, lines and color is professional, and SHE'S 19. GO TO HER ETSY. BUY HER STUFF BECAUSE IT'S ALL GODDAMN GORGEOUS.

I got really inspired by starexorcist's witchsona (and also I was bored and really wanted to play with makeup again).
This was really fun to do, but getting it off later was a mess (especially 3 in the morning and the sink became black…).
Hope you guys like my face!!!!

Don’t get me started on how important this movie is. I won’t stop.
I FEEL LIKE SOMEONE NEEDS TO SHOW THIS TO UBISOFT AND EVERYONE IN THE GOVERNMENT AND FUCKING DISNEY. DISNEY NEEDS TO WATCH THEIR MOVIES AGAIN AND REMEMBER THAT WOMEN ARE ONLY DIFFERENT THAN MEN BIOLOGICALLY, BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN THEY MATTER ANY LESS.
SERIOUSLY, SHE SPENDS ALMOST THE ENTIRE MOVIE PRETENDING TO BE A GUY, AND I BET YOU, IF YOU CUT OUT THE PARTS WHERE IT EXPLICITLY REVEALS SHE’S A WOMAN, YOU WOULDN’T BE ABLE TO TELL A GOD DAMN DIFFERENCE. She’s awkward as a man, but once she finally relaxes, her movements are no different from the other men. Why? Well, 1) when it shows their action and fight sequences THEY ALL HAD THE SAME EXACT TRAINING SO ALL THEIR MOVEMENTS ARE SIMILAR. THEY MAY EACH HAVE THEIR OWN GESTURES OR RANGES OF MOTION, BUT FOR THE MOST PART, WHEN THEY FIGHT, IT’S THE SAME UPRIGHT STANCE AND STRAIGHT BACK AND PRECISION OF MOVEMENT.
WOMEN ARE NO DIFFERENT FROM MEN.
If Mulan was a man, you think the advisor would have spoken over her head to her father to order him to shut her up? You think Shang would have ignored her at the parade? You think anyone in the crowd would have ignored her? Because of her gender, they labeled her as unimportant, and, therefore, something not worth listening to. (I didn’t include her father because I recall him being already upset and stressed at the time of that scene, and I nearly didn’t comment on Shang since he was upset at her for having lied to him about her gender, but what she said is SUPER important). People only bow down to her once she proves she is more than equal to a man by saving the emperor and all of China (but this can be slightly problematic since they only bowed because the emperor bowed; this can arguably be mitigated since he is their leader and they take direction from him). She should not have had to prove her worth, but she does, and she does so brilliantly.
This should be required viewing in schools and English/Literature courses as a way of dissecting a movie’s commentary on social/gender issues, and just to dissect the awesome use of images to convey Mulan’s personal growth as a character and her inner conflict (not talking about “Reflection” here, but that can work; talking about her final battle with Shan Yu) and the way it’s resolved. Disney should make more movies like this: movies with a distinct cultural difference from white Europeans/Americans, movies that get back to the truth of being a woman, the real life obstacles women face, and ways women can accept who they are inside.
I think that’s one of the most important lessons to come out of this movie: acceptance of self. So often it’s about getting others to accept you, or once others accept you, you can finally accept yourself. No. You are a healthier and happier person once you accept yourself for everything you are. That is what gives Mulan strength to save all of China in the end: her acceptance and confidence in herself which gives her the ability to lead and inspire confidence in others. She shows that girls are strong, no matter if they fit in with society or not.
Forget Merida, I wanna be Mulan.
The history of film in one scene
I think we need to talk about Maevaris Tilani. Despite their flaws—we all have them, kids—Bioware has done an excellent job of breaking social molds (same sex romance anyone?) and has always done a wonderful job in writing unique characters. It’s been refreshing to see that homosexual characters are being treated less like the butt of a joke and instead are portrayed as…you guessed it, people! Though there’s still some folks out there who aren’t getting the proper portrayal in modern media. Transgendered characters have been a quiet and untouched subject for years. If a character is transgender it is usually just “simplified” to being a cross dresser or some kind of localization change. While there have been a good many awesome hermaphrodites in video game history, I don’t think that really quite touches on the subject of transgender people. Then there’s Mae. Mae plays a pivotal part in the Dragon Age comics that serve as a sequel to Dragon Age Origins and 2. Maevaris is the late wife of Varric’s cousin. She is powerful, intelligent, well-spoken and brave. She is also revealed to have been born a man. It is never mentioned or mocked once. Varric sees her half naked twice and never says a thing about what gender she was born as. "She’s a mage. She’s family. And that’s all I’ll say." The fact that she was born a man doesn’t make anyone look at her as anything differently than an amazing woman. While this is only part of the comics and not the games themselves, Mae’s existence is important. Maevaris is proving that a transgender character doesn’t have to be comic relief, evil, mentally unstable, and/or any less of a person than the rest of us. And I strongly hope that we’ll see her in the new game and that more video game companies write and accept characters of all identities and orientations into their worlds. But seriously, Maevaris needs to be on-screen.
