@bm0nies made me a fancy mermaid scarf for Hanukkah cause she's the BEST. #mermaidfashion #knitting #friendship #selfie
A few years ago, my friend Tamar knit some dinosaur gloves for a Halloween costume, and when she said she was just going to unravel them afterward I asked if I could have them. I just found them in a drawer and realized they are PERFECT FOR MAKING NERDFIGHTER SALUTES.
My scarf, 'round the neck of its new owner. I'm so proud!
Now that this scarf has been shipped off and received by its intended owner, I can share my big knitting project with the world! Yes, I knit a tiny Doctor Who scarf. This is, roughly, a 1/4 scale version of the first scarf Tom Baker wore on the show. I made it small because a) it's for my friend Philip, who lives in LA and could never wear a big, bulky scarf, b) I like the idea of creating fuctional pieces of clothing that reflect one's fandom and are not t-shirts, and c) the real one is 20 feet long and 11 inches wide and would take years to finish, and I don't care quite that much. I used the pattern from www.doctorwhoscarf.com (yes, such a thing exists, and amazingly, it's run by a dude), but didn't read all the instructions, which is why the colors are out of order on one half. All the fucks I give are locked in the Pandorica right now, sorry!
I need to have a baby immediately just so I can recreate this costume. The best part? This is actually a little girl named Vivian.
