Jenna couldn’t believe the day was finally here. It felt like she had waited for this moment for all her life and planning it had taken longer than anticipated but it was finally here. Today she would become Jenna Barnes and it just felt right. Sitting in her suite for a while and taking in the view, Jenna couldn’t help but feel like this was the right decision, like every choice on her life had lead her to this moment and now it was all she needed.
Taking her time with a shower, ensuring everything was shaved, fresh and moisturised, hair was clean and ready to be styled. She went out to her bridesmaids; Eira and Wanda before her maid of honour, Sarah came in with champagne and a fruit platter for breakfast. So they could all enjoy the wedding before the circus of getting ready and getting to the ceremony started. Seeing all her friends together brought a smile to her lips and helped with the nerves, not that she wasn’t sure about this, more that it was a day where everyone would be watching her. That was a lot for any bride, let alone someone who hated the attention. After a morning of gossiping and belly hugging, they eventually got ready and there Jenna sat, staring at the dress as it was the final thing to do before she left with Jason, he was handing her off.
“Hey, please be dressed, I have a little something for you.” Jason said as he knocked on the door, a gift bag in hand as he waited for confirmation before walking in. “I know this is probably a bit early but I wanted to give you this.” He said as he handed over the bag, inside was one of Eiras bracelets that he’d been allowed to borrow and a piece of their father’s suit, so Jenna would have her something Old, Borrowed and Blue. Realising what it meant, Jenna got up and hugged her brother in a hug that would have ended him if he wasn’t a super soldier. Holding back tears, she eventually pulled back and smiled. “Thank you.” Finding a safety pin, she got the piece of their father’s suit and pinned it to the inside seam of her dress, up near her heart.
“How shake a leg, it’s almost time.” Jase said before leaning over and pressing a kiss to her hair, leaving her in the room before Sarah popped her head in and nodded. It was time to tackle the dress and go meet her Husband.
He wanted to reach out to hold her when he heard her voice shake, but he refrained, focusing on her words instead. Now that he had finally said he vows, he no longer felt like his entire body was on the verge of doing summersaults all over the place. He felt calmer, her voice as soothing as it always was.
The memory of Steve brought a soft smile to his face. He wished Steve was here to see his baby girl get married... He knew Steve would have had some issues with them being together, but time, and life times, were strange and unpredictable for the few in the world with the serum. Trying to find anyone their own age was impossible- and Bucky knew Steve could never argue that Jenna would always be safe and loved with Bucky. Always.
The smile turned into a soft laugh, and he felt his eyes grow a little hot. They both knew how lost he'd been, and how much Jenna was his home now. Back with the Rogers, as he was always meant to be, it seemed. It had always felt right, like he was a puzzle piece that could always fit.
"Always your Bucky," he whispered, gazing at her with pure adoration in his eyes. "Can I kiss her for that?" he asked the officiant, laughing as he was whacked playfully on his arm with their own notes. He smiled wider as the rings were called for, and followed instructions and repeated his oath to her as he was finally allowed to slip the wedding band onto her finger.
Jenna was ready for the offical part to be over, she wanted to kiss her husband and party the night away with their friends and family. She could feel her eyes starting to tear up at his words, he was always going to be her Bucky, for now and ever.
Shaking her head with laughter, Jenna reached up to stop the tears from falling before she took his hands in her and they committed their oath, placing the rings on each others finger before it was finally time for the kiss.
“You may now kiss your bride.” The officiant said before Jenna stood on her tippie toes to reach his lips. “Finally!” She hummed, loud enough for the pair of them to hear it before their lips met. The union of husband and wife was finally made. With her arms reaching up to wrap around Bucky’s neck, Jenna pulled back a little to catch her breath before she leaned back in. Not wanting this moment to end as she heard the claps and cheers of everyone around them.
He couldn't help but laugh loudly as she basically spoke for him. Finally, indeed. He wrapped his arms around her and held her close, not at all surprised that she wasn't holding back for their first kiss as husband and wife. Well, maybe holding back a little.
When she leaned back to catch her breath, his smile was still on his face. He'd never have a reason to not smile around her, overjoyed beyond words that they'd finally, finally reached this moment in life. He picked her up easily, just enough so she didn't have to stand on her tippy toes.
"Let's go celebrate," he whispered, gazing into her eyes. "You up for dancing until we're both exhausted, Mrs. Barnes?"

He was almost certain he'd never heard his own heart beating so loudly in his own ears before. He felt like his mouth was dry and all the liquid in his whole body was just coming out in his palms- he'd never been a man to be nervous, but this was proving to be an exception. But as the ceremony progressed, and he breathed his way through a few of the useful anxiety exercises his therapist taught him months ago- he relaxed. He could get back into the moment and just... be.
He wanted the ceremony to be over so he could just celebrate this huge event with his wife. With their family, with their friends. So precious few days of just joy happened anymore... and this was going to be one of them.
When it was time for the vows, he gave a little nod, and turned to face his bride. He had written them down on a little paper... but now he couldn't remember which pocket he'd put it in. "My car keys I can always find, but this?" he joked, patting his pockets, before Eira got his attention. Of course she knew where he'd put them- always looking out for him.
In the inside left breast pocket of his vest, was the folded paper. He opened it up, read through it quickly to make sure the words would begin to formulate in his mind before speaking- he didn't want to stumble or stutter, not now- he took a breath, and looked up at Jenna.
"... When I first was told that I had a chance at... finding a life for myself, I didn't know what that meant. I knew what it meant to other people. I'd have a chance to do good. To be good, in their eyes. I never had a moment to really think about what I wanted with my second chance... and any time I let myself dream beyond just the idea of being a new 'hero'... I always laughed at myself. Dreams weren't meant for someone like me, not anymore.
"But you, Jenna. You changed... everything. You turned every negative, hopeless thought I had, completely on its head. You were always so bright and sweet, so forgiving and patient. You were everything that I didn't realize I so desperately needed in a friend- and you have stayed being every single thing I have ever wanted as my girlfriend, my lover, my fiancé. And I know you will be, as my wife.
"So I'm making a promise right now, in front of everyone who can kick my ass to keep me accountable-" he smiled as the crowd laughed, "-and most importantly, in front of you, and to you. I'm going to spend my life making sure I deserve the devotion of a woman as incredible as you. I will love you until I no longer know the meaning of the word, and I'll remember it the second I look at you again. You taught me that it was okay to have a dream that I didn't think had survived everything I had endured. You gave me back my happiness. You gave me back parts of myself that I thought were gone for forever. You gave me back my soul, but my soul and my heart are always, always going to be yours.

"Hey Trouble," he said, smiling widely. He had tears in his eyes, unable to really believe someone this beautiful was about to marry him. She was always so beautiful to him- but in this dress, she looked so... magical. Soft and elegant, radiating happiness like she was the only source of it in the entire world.
"You're... incredible," he whispered, looking at her dress and her makeup, the way her hair was coifed so perfectly. "You ready?"
He gave her hands a gentle squeeze as the officiant joined them at the top of the aisle, and moved to stand by her side, his hands staying joined with hers.

One of the first things Bucky's father had ever taught him, was how to tie a tie. It was important to know as a young man. Cross the halves, longer under, over- and yet today of all days, Bucky just couldn't get it right. It was becoming a joke amongst himself and his groomsmen. The tie didn't want to be a part of the celebrations, the tie could sense his nerves, his arm could sense his nerves and was malfunctioning, someone call Shuri for emergency repair! It was all in fun, though. Joking around was making Bucky feel more calm about the day that had finally arrived.
He wasn't scared in the sense that he felt he was making a mistake. Marrying Jenna was the smartest thing he would do in his entire life, there was no doubt in his mind about that. He just wanted the day to go perfectly, for her. She'd worked so hard at getting this wedding prepared and planned; even if it was his day too, he still wanted everything to be perfect for her. If the tie being difficult was the only 'problem' he encountered, he'd be thrilled.
The morning passed with Sam forcing Bucky to eat breakfast. He wasn't mentally hungry, but he had to eat. Seeing Sam's nephews getting ready in their own little suits was endearing to everyone, though once it got closer to head out to the alter, the jokes turned to letting Cass do Bucky's tie. He'd had way more success with his own, after all.
Eventually, though, the hours ticked by. The tie was subdued and securely tucked into his waistcoat. He made sure to brush his teeth again, make sure his hair was just right. Chaotic in a put-together-sense, the way Jenna liked it. Bucky walked out into the hall as the guests started to filter into the ceremony space, and he took a deep breath.
"Last chance to punch me unconscious in protest," Bucky said, looking over at Jase with a smile.
Being in the dress and waiting the final 15 minutes felt suffocating, not in the sense that it was too tight, it was a gorgeous dress and she knew it was the right one because it made Jenna feel like a process when she tried it on and Sarah cried seeing her in it but in the sense that all she wanted now was to make it to the alter and say the final words. The dress she had for the reception would sparkle all night long, especially in the sunset and it would be easier to dance in but this dress made her feel like she belonged in a museum. It was pure fantasy and she hoped it would be how Bucky had imagined her walking to him.
“No protests here, just keep her happy.” Jase said as he looked over at his now brother in law before extending his hand to shake Bucky’s and smiling. “I wanna be the first to say it man, congratulations and welcome to the family.” Before he turned, needing to go get the bride before she was late to her own wedding.
“Wow…” it was a soft hum that escaped the older brother’s lips as Jase spotted his sister in her dress. He knew she had dreamed of this moment for a long time and he was genuinely blown away.
“That bad huh?” Jenna said softly, her voice breaking a little as she grinned I’ve at her brother, he looked sharp and well suited to a suit. “You can’t let me run down the aisle ok, we have to keep pace.” She confirmed before taking his extended arm as they walked into the suite, bridesmaids already lined up and waiting for their Queues. As the music started and everyone started walking, Jenna tried not to fidget with her sleeves, they were perfectly placed after all but here she was fiddling with them. “Do I… Is it all okay?” She asked Jason one last time before they had to go.
“You look amazing, most beautiful bride apart from my own, now let’s go get you married.” He grinned before taking the first step and leading her out.
"Thanks, Jase," Bucky had said, shaking Jason's hand. It meant a lot that Jason accepted him, and trusted him to do just that. As Bucky walked down the aisle, feeling a little awkward with all the eyes on him, trying not to walk too quickly- all he could think of was the kind of future he wanted to give Jenna. Any day that she didn't smile would be a failure that he couldn't allow. They had their beautiful home together with room to grow a little more, before he found her a house. A big, beautiful house with a yard and a porch. He'd build it with his own two hands if he had to...
He'd do anything for her.
He stood nervously as Sam joined him, whispering with him for a while until the music began to change around them. He spotted the bridesmaids toward the end of the aisle, and took a deep breath. Sam grabbed his shoulders and gave them a reassuring squeeze, a playful excited reassurance that this was going to be amazing.
He smiled at Wanda and Eira, catching Eira's eye as she got toward the front of the aisle. Yes, she felt okay to stand, she was great. He laughed as Eira did a little happy dance to show just how good she felt, and he leaned in as she walked over to him.
"Wait until you see her," she whispered at him, sharing an excited smile before he kissed her cheek and she walked over to her side of the aisle. Cass and AJ followed, carrying one ring each, before everyone stood. Those sat closest to the aisle had been given a special task, and as Jenna and Jase started to approach the start of the aisle, their guests gentle started to toss flower petals in front of them.
"... Oh my god," Bucky whispered, almost to himself, as he spotted his soon-to-be wife.

"Bucky!" Bobbi called after him, jogging to catch up. "Hey, I heard you were back! Nice to see another familiar face."
He sighed heavily, closing his eyes for a moment. The serum was one of the worst things to have ever happened to him. He remembered the way it burned when Zola injected it into his veins. He remembered screaming himself hoarse on that lab table, unable to even curl into a ball to try to hide from the pain inside his body. He had been at the point of pure delirium when Steve had found him- Steve, suddenly three times as big as when Bucky had left him back home. Steve, who was suddenly so strong he was taking on Panzer tanks alone. Steve, who had survived decades in ice while Bucky had suffered decades of being a puppet. "I want to know why he wants it," he said finally, moving to sit with her again. "I don't give a shit about if I have clearance or not to know- you and I are friends, Bobbi, right? You know the history of that serum... having super soldiers is like having nukes. Once it gets out that one side has them, everyone else is going to want them too. People have been assassinated because of their knowledge about the serum-" He stopped himself, realizing that not only was his voice getting heated, but his left hand was closing from the muscle memory of when he had been sent to kill Tony Stark's parents. He clenched it shut, tightly, and took a deep breath. "... If it gets out that you succeed at this... Bobbi, I don't want anything to happen to you."

"Too bad we don't know any friendly aliens that we could ask. Like, 'hey Voyager's finally out of our reach and we're worried, can you go check on her?'" Considering the last group of aliens he'd ever met, he had a feeling an innocent request like that would be met with laughter and violence. "Thor can't survive in open space, can he?" He had a feeling the man couldn't, no matter how insanely powerful and impressive that entire god's being was. "Technology for something that important would definitely help- but like, there's this sort of... majesty about digging with your own hands, I think. When I was like... fifteen? My school went on a trip to the coastline to look for ocean fossils. Even if what I found was only a few hundred years old- it's still a few hundred years, in your hand." He tried his coffee again, finding it was worse as it cooled. "Whoever made this must have sleep trouble, good god," he said, practically gagging. He got up to see if there was another kind to make in one of the cupboards. "Twenty years on the same project? Are you curing a disease?" he asked curiously.
"yeah, it's unfortunate. Maybe one day we'll find a friendly group. I wouldn't doubt it, sooner or later." Bobbi scrunched her face, and shook her head after trying her coffee a third time. Still awful. "Uh, I don't know. I've only really met him in passing? I wouldn't know what his capabilities were. You'd have to ask." There was something cool about getting one's hands dirty, and working with one's hands in general. Bobbi did enjoy it, even if she did rely on her tech for the most part. "That's cool. I grew up in San Diego, so I spent a lot of time on the beach." She dropped her head back with a dramatic sigh. and a roll of her eyes. "Well, I mean it's been off and on for twenty years, since I was also an active field agent. But I mean... kind of? Basically Fury has tasked me with stabilizing a compound kind of like your serum..." She really could only assume that his was similar to Steve's, which could prove helpful, but she would never ask.
"I kind of like that... giant tree guy that fought with us against that purple nutsack from space, but I don't think he'd be any help either." He searched the cupboards, and snatched down a box. Korean instant coffee- he loved the stuff in the past. Hopefully it was still good now. He put water into a kettle as she explained her project, and turned it on with an oddly slow snap. "... Fury's having you make a super soldier serum?" he asked, turning his head to look at her. "Bobbi... come on you know how dangerous the serum is." He wasn't angry, but there was disappointment in his voice. "The world does not need more of me."

He got up to see if there was another kind to make in one of the cupboards. "Twenty years on the same project? Are you curing a disease?" he asked curiously.

"Bucky!" Bobbi called after him, jogging to catch up. "Hey, I heard you were back! Nice to see another familiar face."
"Friends being born aside, the seventies was freaking weird," he said. He sipped his own coffee, and for the first time in he knew not how long, he added sugar to it. "Man that is bitter, whew," he said. "Natasha is a Jedi, that's the only reason she knows everything. It freaks even me out sometimes." He was teasing- it was no secret to anyone that Natasha Romanov could just breathe, and Bucky would find her amazing. "Wouldn't hurt us to try to fool her, though, Consider it... training?"
"In scientific terms, yes. Yes they were. But also kind of cool. Like MRIs were invented, the first DNA sequencing of an organism... The Voyager space programs... The discovery of 'Lucy' who is thought to be an early human ancestor... So many cool things, I guess mixed with all the weird." She nodded. "Not sure who made it, but it's strong." Maybe it was Coulson. "She really is! How is she so stealthy all the time?" Bobbi tried, and she was certain she was only half as good as the red head. "Well.... maybe. Might be worth trying in a couple of months when I'm better at it."
"Ohh no, don't talk to me about Voyager, it's so sad," Bucky whined, moving to sit at one of the break tables. "I went off on a research tangent about it. First it's outliving it's battery life, now it's almost so far away there's limited contact... one day it's just gonna be all by itself in the void of space. It's like the droids on Mars; except maybe one day, we can bring them back." His Space Nerd was showing loud and proud. "I can't even wrap my head around Lucy, but it's so... freaking cool." He sipped his coffee again, and set the mug down so the bitterness could settle. "She's the best of the most deadly group of assassins... She can kick even my ass, but I'm sure you can kick Barton's ass just as easily too. Marksman have nothing against you ladies." He leaned back in his chair. "I think you'd be good at it; you're so smart with the stuff you always do in your lab. I've seen you sometimes, looking like you're becoming one with your research. Do you blink when you're in there?" he teased with a grin.

"God, what a nerd," he teased, opening the break room door for her. He had no room to talk; rather than keeping up with the languages he knew, he was studying... everything else. Every science book he could get his hands on, he was reading. He had ninety years to catch up on, after all. "If you ever want to practice Italian or Russian, you know where to find me. But you're way over my list of languages. I don't think HYDRA thought I'd ever need to talk most of the time... Do you want sugar in yours?" he asked, grabbing two mugs by the coffee machine.
"What can I say? I like science, and languages." She smirked, shrugging a little. "Hey, I might take you up on that. I'm not strong on them." Should she cut back on sugar, probably, was she gonna? Hell no. "2 cream, 1 sugar." Though most of the time she did drink it black.
"I'll trade you then," he said, making her coffee as requested. "You help me catch up on ninety years of science, and I'll have you speaking those languages so well, not even Natasha will be able to tell it's you over the phone." He handed over her mug of coffee, and poured his out, black. "I think I've caught up through the seventies... And I'm glad I missed the seventies, good god..."

"Yeah, pretty much. I actually didn't look at the clock when I went to bed, so I'm not sure." It wasn't light out, so it was hard to say. Bobbi didn't mind though. "Oh yikes. I mean, I'm rusty with my Spain dialect too, so it sounds like we should have traded places. I much prefer German, or Mandarin, to be honest."
"You speak Mandarin?" he asked, looking at her. "Ohh man, that one I can't get the hang of. I could survive, but I'm like a tourist level of proficient. Oh well- maybe one of these days they'll send us both to Germany and we can blend in like we're artsy locals from Berlin. I think we can both be just bitchy enough to pull it off." He said it with pride, and a little bit of sass. He rather liked being able to have a personality while on his missions. "Why'd they send you to Barcelona?"

Bobbi nodded, having been to France a few times, she somewhat understood. "I think they have some from Costa Rica in the break room?" She would be happy for a coffee herself actually, so timing was good.
"Then let's get some and we can compare shitty 'why do I do this job still' mission notes," he said. He stepped just around to throw an arm around her shoulder as they walked. "When'd you get back?"
"Deal. Not that I have too many notes." She rolled her eyes. She didn't go on a lot of missions these days, by choice. "Depending on how you look at it, either it was really late last night, or early this morning. When did you get back? You were in Mexico, right?"
"Ah, so when I went to bed," he chuckled. "I got back around... two in the morning and just zonked out. I haven't had to use my Spanish skills in a long, long time, and they're lacking for sure. Nothing like trying to sleep on a op when you're almost certain you're speaking the wrong dialect for where you're meant to be a native..."
