Bigger than every single one of us.
Hi, longtime lurker first time caller, I was just reading the description of the Astral Dreadnought in the Tome of Foes and saw: "Tharizdun, the Chained God, created astral dreadnoughts to devour planar travelers who were seeking portals that lead from the Astral Plane to the Outer Planes — portals they might use to gaze upon their gods or realize some dream of godhood." I haven't seen anyone mention this!
I wish I had more of a mind for theorizing and keeping track of big plot stuff because Holy Shit!! I’m now even more relieved that they left Halas in his gem prison. I’ll be curious to see if we encounter any more dreadnoughts down the line though!
Maaaaan, I’ve been rewatching early episodes and am blown away by how many detailed hints Matt’s been dropping since Day One...all alluding to The Chained Oblivion.
And now that we’re seeing Tharizdun’s influence LITERALLY sleeping through the cracks, I think we’ll find more folks/powers directly tied to the Betrayer God. Here’s a fun lore reminder from way back in the day...
MATT: Much of the recent studies into current drow society across Exandria speak of growing paranoia and madness that's seeping in with the believed influence of Tharizdun, the Chained Oblivion. Whether it be by proximity of remnants of his power deep beneath the surface that have grown close to these societies, but there is whispers and research that says that some of these dark elf societies are being driven slowly mad by this influence. Strangely, what studies you've been able to find that talk about penetrating the Kryn Dynasty's intense boundaries... there is little in iconography under Lolth or Tharizdun. And what remains of that is ancient and crumbling and largely ignored by the society. (From “Commerce & Chaos,” C2E31 Transcript)
