These collages from Oliver Rasti say it all for me. No matter who you vote for you end up with the same deformed figure head at the helm, implementing the same predetermined policies. America is not, and was never intended to be, a democracy. Real democracy lies in our communities where together we can create real change. And, as an American citizen I believe I have a right to share my two cents on the state of our country.

Take It To The Border
I am no expert in these matters, but it strikes me that the construction and policing along the Mexican border must cost the US more than they stand to lose from allowing 'aliens' into a land that was theirs in the first place. It has already been well documented that the US labor market requires immigrants to keep functioning and I believe that the border restrictions and this ridiculous fence serve only to appease right wing voters.
Call me an idealist, even call me an anarchist, but I believe in one world and view all borders as nonsense.
I was down visiting my folks on Long Beach Island in New Jersey last week. My family, on my mother's side, has a connection with the island going back 60 odd years and I've always found it to be a magical place. Unfortunately, being 18 miles long, a mile wide and buffeted by ever rising Atlantic tides, LBI is disappearing. Every time I visit the beaches are getting smaller and though I feel blessed to have seen it, I wonder if my offspring ever will..
USA v Ghana @ 181 Cabrini!!
I was jumping for joy on the inside folks, honestly.
Thoughts on America's World Cup Involvement..
Witnessing the United States participation in the World Cup from it's own shores has been a real eye opener. I've been watching their games from my favourite local, 181 Cabrini. Here I have experienced real passion and emotion as America's team battled bravely to remain on the world stage. Maybe some of this stems from an American want to dominate anything of a global variety, but the overriding feeling I get is that through the great metaphor of football, Americans have been expressing a genuine desire to understand our world better and in turn be better understood themselves.
