Riven’s Team throughout Inqusition

Start: Cassandra, Varric, Vivienne once recruited

Beginning of Skyhold: Cassandra, Varric, Dorian

Between Winter Palace and Adament: Blackwall, Varric, Dorian

Cassandra tags along for quite some time, initially for appearances sake. Eventually Cassandra chooses to remain in Skyhold, wishing to focus on her duties as Seeker and her plans to rebuild the order. 

Vivienne follows suit, though quickly retreats to Skyhold as it becomes clear that her and Riven have conflicting views. 

Varric stays with Riven for the entire journey, a mixture of affection and curiosity being the main driving force. There was pity at first, “she’s so young”, but that is quickly replaced by respect. He considers himself as an uncle of sorts, just as close as he was to Hawke, but the bond a bit different. 

Riven is the one to offer Dorian a spot on her personal team, shortly after his arrival at Skyhold. She explained it as “Vivienne doesn’t care for me and Solas doesn’t care for my beliefs”. They become good friends on their journeys together. It is likely that if Dorian is with her on a mission, so then is Varlen and vice versa. 

Initially Blackwall was quite aloof when he first joined the Inquisition. A sense of duty compelled him to, despite his misgivings over their “imprisonment” of the Templars. It quickly becomes apparent that Riven is not a tyrant, with her support of Celene as empress softening him up a bit. When she extends an olive branch, he readily accepts, even if it was to just cover up the gap that Cassandra had left behind.
