At first, Hvitserk thinks he’s totally fine with dumping you. He wants to play the field and figures that not having to be tied down to you would be best. Especially since you’re not into sharing as he is. After a few weeks of random sex partners, he begins to feel empty. He often has a far off look in his eyes whenever he sees you.
The regret festers and soon turns into anger. He becomes jealous when notices you’ve been smiling at men again. At first you were mopping around and hiding at home. However, a few weeks of crying and talking to your friends had made you feel a bit better. Now that you were actually attending feasts again, Hvitserk can’t keep his eyes off you. He looks at you with longing but doesn’t approach since he’s afraid of your reaction.
Being a Prince, he tries to first schmooze your friends. He invites the three of them to a lavish meal. From the best meats to the finest of meads, he spares no expense. After the feast, he instructs them to bring him up as a topic of conversation whenever possible. They are hesitant but accept just in case he may be as crazy as Ivar.
Your friends try and try but you shut them down every-time they bring up his name. “I will not speak of him any longer! He made his decision to ‘explore’ and that is the end of it.” You firmly point out to them. Unknown to you, Hvitserk is often nearby spying on your conversation. Needless to say, he’s disappointed.
Desperate for help, he goes to Ubbe, who he hopes will have a solution. Ubbe being the loving big brother, promises to help him fix things. One day at a festival, Ubbe approaches your table and sits down. He makes small talk before bringing up Hvitserk and how the two of you should work things out. Quite fed up with your ex and the brother; who you knew he hunted women with; you tell them both off. “For once and for all, leave me alone!” You shout at Hvitserk who can’t believe you’re actually done with him.
Hvitserk decides that a grand romantic gesture would be best. Naturally, he convinces Sigurd to compose a ballad just for you. It takes him three weeks but the song Sigurd puts together is simply beautiful. One day, Hvitserk sees the perfect chance for you to hear the song when he spots you and your mother seated in a meadow. Grabbing his younger brother, he sends Sigurd your way. The musical Lothbrok bows to the two of you and performs the song as he plays his instrument. When he’s done, you and your mother clap enthusiastically. Pleased by your reaction, Hvitserk comes over and kneels near you. Coldly, you look at him. “And what do you want? You want credit for using your little brother in your schemes?” Hvitserk tries to reason with you. “Please don’t be like this.” But you get up and leave him standing in the meadow with your mother and Sigurd.
After getting ideas from all his brothers about what to do, Hvisterk goes to see Ivar last. Ivar shrugs after hearing his dilemma. “Is that why you’ve been looking so melancholy lately? Perhaps I’ll take Y/N for myself. And I will not share her with you as you like to do with Ubbe.” Ivar smiles as an angry Hvitserk storms off to find you.
Spotting you walking alone near your family farm, Hvitserk marches over to you with a scowl. Without warning he grabs you by your arm and turns you around. Stunned to see him, you are about to curse him out when he tells you to shut up. “I love you and I won’t allow any other man to have you! I’ll kill as many as necessary! I’m yours and you are mine.” Before you can argue, he kisses you passionately. Breaking the kiss that left you breathless, Hvitserk presses his forehead to yours and then looks at you. “I made a mistake but I am home, for good.”
