This started as a conversation where someone had posted a photo of Pedro from the 2023 Oscars (see my banner above). The thot that immediately followed in my head:  Javi G takes you to the Oscars. Takes you to the Vanity Fair party. Takes you back to the Chateau Marmont. Then just takes you.

The restaurant is smaller than you thought it might be, unassuming in a strip of businesses. The sign for it is understated, white lettering on a black rectangle with a thin gold border - Aperitif. You’ve been studying the sign, and the door below it, for well over ten minutes, the chill night air creeping up your bare legs. The new dress you bought for the occasion - black, tasteful but a little sexy, an amount you’re comfortable with - weaves around your knees when a breeze makes you shiver. As lavish as the Gutierrez compound was, your job was anything but. As a maid in the estate, it was your job to work behind the scenes to keep up that luxury appearance. It was far from a glamorous job, but it was a job you were grateful for. It wasn’t a hard job, and it was stable. You kept to yourself for the most part and it paid well. Plus, the views weren’t bad either…

With the sea as a backdrop, every view out any given window was stunning. The sun made the sea glitter beautifully no matter what time of day it was, and you found yourself staring out the window at times. But, there was something else that caught your eye often… or rather someone else. The head of the estate, and head of the Gutierrez cartel, Javi, was the most beautiful man you had ever seen. His smile lit up the room more than the sun that beamed through the windows. 

“Do not address Señor Gutierrez, entiéndame?” Flora, the head of the household told you sternly on your first day.

“Si señora,” you replied meekly.

Her words rang through your head nearly every day, and you had to remind yourself of your place in Javi Gutierrez’s life. But, even though you weren’t supposed to speak to him, there was nothing against looking at him, especially when you thought he didn’t notice.

“Tell me, doctor,” Mr. Guiterrez sighed in defeat, “How long do I have?”

“Couple of months maybe?” the doctor’s shoulders dropped, “I can try and get you some experimental drugs to give you some more time. And I’ll do what I can to make you more comfortable, but this really isn’t my area of expertise, you know.”

“I am aware. But you are the only doctor I trust. And no one can know about this outside these walls.” Mr. Gutierrez had a solemn look on his face as he was finally confronted with his own mortality. 

The doctor nodded, “Of course. I will do my best, señor.” 

“You always do.”

The doctor was the most trusted and sought after medical professional in the cartel world. Anyone and everyone went to him, mostly for injuries, because he was the best and he was discrete. He was also your father, and the only family you ever had. While it wasn’t easy to grow up in the world of cartels and gangsters, you still maintained a good relationship with your father, and he did everything in his power to keep you safe in this dangerous world he brought you into.

Nooooooooo that ending, they’re so sweet together 😭 I’m so looking forward to seeing you work your magic with this!

As you stepped into the theater you noticed that it was virtually empty, save for a few couples interspersed in the auditorium.  The Palace was one of Javi’s favorite old movie houses, with its gilded decor and gorgeous murals. The fact that several Oscar-winning movies had premiered here solidified his love of the older building.
