People's Choice Awards: Best and Worst Dressed
Award season is officially upon us and kicked off last night with The People’s Choice Awards. During the 2015 award season I will be blogging the day after each award show, about the red carpet looks.
The People’s Choice Awards which was broadcasted on CBS, is driven by the audience and isn’t taken as seriously as other awards shows. That being said the celebrities were on the red carpet with some great, okay, and flat out bad looks.
Let’s start with the bad. Gabrielle Union, Being Mary Jane
While the color looked great on her, the style of the dress looked dated and did nothing for her body. It looked like a dress a beginner sewer would make to wear to prom. Her saving grace was her hair and make up which looked fresh and natural.
Molly Tarlov, Awkward
As one of the stars of MTV’s Awkward, Tarlov looked awkward at last night’s event. From the head to toe this whole look was a mess. Her dress looked ill fitting and badly made, while her shoes looked cheap. The way her hair was styled (if you call that styled) made it look like she had extensions that were put in badly. Also her make up was too heavy and gave her a raccoon eye appearance.
Ginnifer Goodwin, Once Upon a Time
While the color looked great and I liked the style of the dress, it wasn’t tailored correctly which makes Goodwin appear heavier than she actually is. Also its a plain look that could’ve used jewelry to make it a more glam.
Fifth Harmony
Where do I even start, clearly they are not in harmony when it comes to red carpet appearances. The only one that looks decent is the girl in the middle, the others look cheap and tacky.
Anna Farris, Mom
Anna Farris who costed the show looked horrible on the red carpet. The top is too short and too small. While the skirt is a weird length; the outfit as a whole looks badly made.
Moving on to the okay looks.
Hillary Scott, Lady Antebellum
I love the print of this dress but the empire waist was cut to high which makes Scott look like she’s just legs and boobs and doesn’t have a neck. I did like her use of jewelry, and her hair and makeup looked natural and fresh like Gabrielle Union’s.
Sarah Hyland, Modern Family
Hyland’s hair and makeup looks great and I like the style of dress. My only problem with this look is the dress looks like two pieces sewn together and not cohesive. While I like her shoes, they aren’t right for the length of the dress and cuts her body, she should’ve worn shoes that made her legs look longer.
Allison Janney, Mom
I love this dress and it looks great on Janney, who hosted the Show along side Anna Farris. My only problem is the dress looks a little tight around her boobs and she could’ve used a bigger pair of earrings or a simple necklace to round out this look.
Kimberly Perry, The Band Perry
This was one of my favorite looks from last night, I love the dress and the color complements her complexion. That being said she makes my okay list because she had on these beautiful ombre stone earrings that are completely lost in her mess of a hair style. If her hair was pulled back into a messy ponytail or bun the amazing earrings she had on would’ve stood out and she would’ve been on my best dressed list.
Kristen Bell, Veronica Mars
I love the color and the skirt matches her adorable personalty, the only thing I don’t like is the top looks way too big. I would’ve like to have seen a more square cut and boxy style shirt or a fitted shirt that was tucked in so the skirt could’ve had it’s moment. Also shout out to her husband Dax Shepard who cleaned up very nicely for last night’s event.
Last but not least the Great looks from last night.
Giuliana Rancic
I loved this look, the color is spot on with Pantone’s hottest colors for 2015. I liked that dress was a vintage style but had a bit of modern flair with the print and the clutch was the perfect compliment to the dress.
Portia de Rossi, Scandal
Just like Giuliana Rancic, this look uses a hot color for 2015. I love the cut outs on the front and back, that are sexy but don’t show too much skin. My only problem is the shoes, they look to bulky.
Kelly McCreary, Grey’s Anatomy
I love everything about this look. This is the kind of outfit you could wear off the red carpet and look just as amazing as McCreary. I also like that her hair is pulled back and her makeup is simple so that the dress is the star.
Ellen Pompeo, Grey’s Anatomy
While jumpsuits were popular last night, Pompeo takes the cake with her nude look. I loved the lace cutouts that were sexy in a secret sort of way. My only problem was that her pants were way too long which gave the appearnce that she was standing on her tip-toes.
Amy Adams, Big Eyes
Amy Adams simple dress was updated by using one of the hot colors for 2015. I liked that her hair was sleek and makeup was light. My favorite part of this look was the sparkly belt that was loosely tied and gave the outfit a bit of something extra.
