I grew up listening to Aaliyah and watching her videos; her death was the first celebrity death I knew about and cared about. At 10 years old, I couldn’t listen to the Rock the Boat (which came out around the time her death) without feeling uncomfortable. In honor of the 14th anniversary of her death here are 5 songs by Aaliyah that I love. Below are 5 songs that show off Aaliyah’s voice and talent. I picked songs that were as amazing as More Than A Woman, One in a Million or Try Again. Its safe to say the world still misses you Baby Girl, continue to rest in paradise (1979 - 2001).

Today’s song from my Summer 2015 Playlist has a tragic story behind it. Rock the Boat by Aaliyah was the last music video she made before her untimely death and the song became her last hit after her passing. I was a big Aaliyah fan growing up and I remember I couldn’t listen to Rock the Boat as a kid. This August it will be 14 years since Aaliyah passed away. Tragic news aside, Rock the Boat is a sexy summer hit that will make you want to try and dance like Aaliyah did in the video.
