if i had a time machine and i wanted to absolutely destroy an ancient emperor or king, i would take them to the shark tunnel of an aquarium. giving them an ozymandias view of their legacy would do nothing, the can see that all empires rot just by looking around them. but the shark tunnel of an aquarium is something they haven’t seen before, something no one has seen before, something magnificent that they could build with technology only slightly out of their reach. they would bankrupt their nation trying to recreate that shark tunnel for themself. their dynasty would collapse within three generations, and, if heaven is on my side, they themself will be eaten by a shark to the delight of generations of historians to come

Ostracods are a class of crustaceans, sometimes known as seed shrimp. The deep-sea giant ostracod, Gigantocypris, is 30 times bigger than regular ostracods (it's actually the size of a pea ). Their body resembles a shrimp but is completely encased within a clamshell-like carapace. These rotund residents of the deep live in the midwater and are nearly neutrally buoyant. They swim by rowing long, feathery antennae, which are also used for feeding. Those enormous eyes are shaped like parabolic mirrors to help spot bioluminescent prey in the dark ocean depths.

Females like the one in this video clip brood their embryos inside the carapace until they are quite large and well-developed.
