Let's talk dairy. The cows don't die to produce milk, right? What's the problem? Dairy cows only produce milk because they are forcibly impregnated over and over. Each time their baby is taken from them before they get a chance to nurse. Cows are intelligent and social animals and dedicated mothers, much like humans, and they mourn the loss of each baby. Cows are abused and treated like machines. If the calf is female, she is doomed to a life of the same suffering. If the calf is male, the baby is killed; deemed a waste product and sold for veal. Once a cow's milk production slows, she is brutally killed. If you consume an animal's milk, their blood is on your hands.

Russell Wendell Simmons is an American entrepreneur, record executive, writer, and film producer. Simmons has been vegan since 1999, and advocates Ahimsa and veganism, citing animal rights along with the environmental and health benefits. Simmons is a supporter of Farm Sanctuary, an organization working to end cruelty to farm animals.
